Steve; There are about 16 things wrong with your narrow-minded, libertardian, secular-progressive comment; #1. YOU weren't "there"; so YOU really have NO IDEA what happened; #2. perhaps when the flake with the cell phone was first asked to GO ELSEWHERE to talk on the damned thing and he refused, and kept right on, keeping on, if the "shooter" had jumped over the seat, crammed the cell phone in the "idiot's ear", the "shooter could have enjoyed the movie, and the idiot could continue going to movies and pissing people off with his stupid cell phone; who knows? he may even have lived another week or two before some one "took him out". #3. You're obviously a libertardian malcontent who hates guns. #4. and you obviously think wearing a neck tie makes you look "more important"; (but your "mouth" ruins that possibility! )

Steve has a stance on guns I am indifferent but can be swayed either way... Just because someone's point of view differs doesn't mean it needs to turn into a full blown argument ... isn't that the topic that was started a normal gun carrier shoots an armed/unarmed man because of a minor disagreement... this type of post adds to why civilians shouldn't have guns as it quickly escalates to name calling then Bang ..

lets keep it civil and respect others views even if we disagree

Are any of you on here old enough to remember when there was a huge public outcry to ban the rope?

Many years ago there were lynchings, and as we all know: ropes are dangerous !

Lets outlaw cars. Duh.

We can then all ride horses with mandated helmets on.
What will the child restraints, and seat belts look like?...
Is a Clydesdale considered an SUV?
Let the libs figure the ensuing issues. They are the masters of legislating idiotic policy.
Wait...we can't go there...riding horses is cruelty to animals, and the flatulence will skyrocket the methane gas, leading to deepening global warming.
Flooding all low lying land within only a few years.

Where the hell is evolution when you need it?!?
Humans should be developing wings by now to eliminate so many issues.
Soon we could be suing all the irresponsible wind farms for dicing up so many of our young, adventurous teenagers, and endangered birds.
At least Caribou, and other of Gods creatures thrive near oil pipelines from the warmth they rely on...what does a wind mill do for our environment again?...I forget.
We could outlaw wind harvesting!
I could be a progressive lib!!
This is interesting muttling up everything for the sake of disagreeing with conservatives no matter how nonsensical the argument.

Now if you actually take the time to read the stats remember that gun deaths not only include all the accidental shootings but also include murder and suicide.

Still, more people die in car accidents than in all gun related deaths.

First I will not lower myself to personal attacks as you do to make my point. The cell phone user was wrong in using the phone in the theater but should he be killed? He should have been thrown out of the theater not killed. What kind of people want to see a man killed because he used a cell phone when you don't like it. Is life that cheap? The right wing keeps talking about christian values and the display of the 10 commandments , well somewhere it is written, lets see, Thou shall not kill. Can't wait to see how the shootings in New Mexico are rationalized

You don't have to lower yourself any, Steve; You're plenty "low enough" already! Just being a die-hard liberal make you sufficiently "low enough" in my book; and now we have a lib goon quote us the ten commandments, do we? I thought all you libs thought that "bible stuff" was hog-wash? The incident in Tampa had ZILCH to do with anyone "rationalizing" it; the word is out now that the "victim" was also an "in you face", smart-mouth" liberal......you know, Steve.....much like YOU! Only this time he smarted off to a guy who has probably had all of the "smart mouth BS" he needs; (but then again, I wasn't there, and neither were you.

Here's a great idea for you, Steve........you seem to be so "concerned" about things that YOU think are "wrong"; I am too; I'm beyond concerned that the POS that I'm guessing YOU helped get in office, is NOW planning on using the IRS to "silence" his political enemies; being the lib you are, I'm sure you're OK with that?

90 guns per 100..... although I don't think that equates to 90% gun ownership per individual.

We the English are to blame during the 1700's....so we are not blameless in this by a long way.. The constitution was built on our actions historically.

Has anyone got statistics on deaths like this without gang style murders..

what I am getting at is Accidental gun death to compare against lower gun death countries??

Just food for thought and not meant to get peoples blood boiling... Hopefully it can stay friendly...Fingers crossed

Car accidents kill more people than just about anything. So maybe we should ban cars. If people want to kill themselves, they will find a way. I personally know 4 people that killed themselves. None of them were with a gun. 2 by carbon monoxide, 1 hanging and 1 overdose.

I guess that by now all of you have come to realize that I am a "Wise Ass". I used to get in a lot of trouble in school with the Catholic Nuns and in high school, Jesuit Priests. My parents really hated me!!!

However, that background more than prepared me for Marine Corps Boot Camp. Even though I have a large number of "Military Weapons" in my collection I don't carry a weapon on my person daily. When I travel on business, I make sure I have either have my Beretta 92G, .40 cal with TMJ total metal jacketed ammo. I don't own special high capacity mags, I want my weapons "stock". I also have (2) model 1911 A1 .45's one with 230 grain hollow points and one with TMJ ammo, also 230 grain.
I also own an M14 (yes, a real one) with selector switch for which I have the special permit for automatic weapons. Along with that I have an FNFAL and a genuine AK47 that I brought back from Vietnam. My collection is rounded out with an M-1 Garand as well as an M-2 carbine made by IBM. Yes, that's the one with a selector switch and full automatic firing capability.

I only fire them on a firing range under controlled conditions with a range officer supervising. All my years in The Marine Corps I qualified expert with both M-14 rifle and .45 pistol. I also have taught my entire family proper safety procedures. That is proper gun safety.

Many years back, we had an attempted home invasion and I grabbed my M-14 and loaded it with armor piercing ammunition. I did not put the selector switch on full automatic before issuing a loud verbal warning to the intruder that I was armed and another attempt at entry would result in death.
Unfortunately it was to no avail because they tried to smash the steel insulated entry door in. I fired 10 rounds total at the perimeter of the door so as not to kill them.
My wife had called the police of which our son was a police lieutenant and they arrived in 2 minutes and found two "wounded" perps lying on my front lawn. I hit both of them in the legs, by calculated choice and full "Gun Control".
The command police officer wanted to know why I didn't fire at the center of the door and kill them, to which I replied, I just wanted to disable them and not kill them.
There are those in the left that would try to deny me my second amendment right to own fire arms and to protect my property and more importantly wife and daughters. One of my daughters is "special needs" under our conservatorship. I realize that for every one of me there are more irresponsible gun owners and that is unfortunate for us all.

Good story. Here in California the law would have probably arrested you since the bad guys hadn't actually gained entry yet. Here in CA, you'd better wait until they are inside and you almost have to have some kind of proof that the perp was going to cause great bodily harm to you or someone you were protecting before you kill them. Oh, and you better kill them, or the perp will probably sue you in court and win depending on where in CA you live because of the many liberal counties here. Although dead men can't sue, you still might have to worry about the perps family suing you. You also must be careful not to shoot and or kill them if it can be proved that the perp was attempting to escape. You aren't supposed to shoot someone that is retreating because if they are retreating they supposedly aren't threatening you any more. Ha!

Thanks for your service, United States Marine and thanks for remaining above the name calling.

Many of our family have CWP.

I shoot and reload ammo for handguns, rifles and shotguns.

Several months ago, at dusk, a gentleman came from between parked cars at Walmart and asked for my watch and wallet. I folded back my jacket and revealed my 1911A1, in a shoulder holster.
In a calm voice I told him, "Please don't come closer, I have nothing worth dying for... Go home to your family". He dropped the tire iron that he had been brandishing...thanked me a left.

I would have been happy to give him my trash, but since dead men can't testify, my skull might have been bashed in.

Give 'em all muskets, as the Constitution meant.

Point out the phrase for me... you can't- it is an ignorant point of view you seem to never tire of and must think is clever, applied to the rest of the amendmants and we'd be north korea.

Muskets were the most advanced personal military weapon of the time, using your rationale , what they meant if written today was "automatic weapon", some of the newest are really lethal, killing around corners and behind walls- the gun used in this crime IS a musket in comparison! And a musket would have done the same crime as this... so what is your point?

I'll clarify my position

I am not anti gun in controlled circumstances..

Target shooting
Hunting
Pest control

You guys could possibly give more examples as it is not part of our culture over here... ( not meant to be taken in a holier than thou attitude)
I have a hobby shooting a camera some people shoot with guns... not a problem when its controlled.

I am anti gun when it comes to civilians in daily life carrying deadly weapons like what happened in Tampa. He seen the red mist and has now ruined the victims life his life and more importantly all the family around them.. they will be victims of not war but a momentary lapse in self-control.
I'll clarify my position br br I am not anti gun ... (show quote)

How often is a crime averted because a legally licensed individual pulls a gun, not even having to fire a shot? How often does a legally licensed gun owner fire a shot, thus saving himself or other victims of a crime? Are the statistics on gun deaths accurate? Do they tell the true story? How many deaths were caused by illegally owned guns during the commission of a crime? How many deaths were the bad guys, shot in self defense?

In the late 1700's prior to the Revolutionary War, the British tried to control the colonists' guns. Had they been successful, there would not have been a U.S. and no one to bail the Brits out of WWI and WWII using - of all things - guns!

In the Aurora, CO theater shooting, the theater had a "no guns" policy. So when the shooting started, the only one with a gun was the bad guy. I wonder what would have happened if there were some others who were legally armed sitting in the audience. In fact, I wonder if the perpetrator would have even tried to shoot up the theater if he knew that there would be other armed people there who might shoot back.

Now, look at what's going on in our government today. We have a president who ignores The Constitution, successfully stonewalls investigations into impeachable offenses by him and his administration and largely controls the press. Thankfully, the people are starting to see the light, but we have three more years of a president who wants to "fundamentally" change America - into a socialistic, totalitarian country. Gun control is not the issue - people control is. Gun control is just another piece of the agenda towards disarming the people and allowing him to further his agenda of people control.
