One thing about this incident that no one has seemed to have picked up on;
You're in a movie, right?
Why do YOU usually go to a movie? To watch the movie, right? Most movies these days have "sound", right? so it's kinda nice if you can HEAR the damned movie as well as watching it, right?
Oh...but you have some FLAKE sitting behind you, playing with his iPhone, (or maybe even his erector set, or maybe even his RC "drone thingie".....and you can't hear the damned movie, right? So.......you say to the flake.....can it flake.....you're "spoiling my "experience", (which I PAID lottsa $$$ for"! )

Flake says....hey..."up your's, cuz"!
You: "howja like that phone thingie "up your's", dadio ?
So this thing, (just like a ping-pong game ), gets batted back & forth....finally, BOOM!

Flake: "hey man....I was just callin my kid! whyja have to shoot me"?

The preceding scenario happens 9,789,000 time a week....some place. Sometimes it ends.....with a lot of screaming and yelling, sometimes with some "fistacuffs", and once-in-a-while with a very surprised, (then dead ) flake.

I'm NOT "taking sides" here; (I wasn't "there" ); I was "here".....so for me, this is another, "he says, she says" incident; my ONLY "opinion" (based on years of experience ) is.......when you're out in public, be "thoughtful and courteous" to people; don't blow your smoke in people's faces......don't have your cell phone ringing right in the middle of Beethoven's sonata in c sharp minor.......don't fart while strangers 2 feet away are having their coffee......try to be "respectful"; when all else fails, get another seat; at the end of the day, everyone will still be better off; but if all else STILL fails, and it looks the other guy is gonna shoot you, shoot him first; you're allowed to; (some places. )

Get off it. When push came to shove, our Brit cousins and we supported each other. Long live the Queen and long live the Brits.

I took my company to fire our new tanks with our cousins in Germany.
Her Majesties Own Hussars were our hosts and the most gracious folks imaginable.

In a fight I want the folks from the UK at my side.

Would you consider a testosterone poisoned macho man loudly texting? to his 22 month old daughter, talking to his wife, shining the light from his smart phone and refusing to abate his obnoxious conduct and then throwing his popcorn into the face of the person asking him to desist a candidate for "pest control"?

25 people in the theater and the movie hadn't started. If bothered he could have changed seat or went to management. The man killed may have been obnoxious but when has this been a capital offense? Only in Florida! Of coarse that is a reason to stand your ground in Florida. Where did you read that the dead man was testosterone poisoned macho man that threw popcorn. I read the report by a witness that there was a shot and then popcorn flew in the air? Anyway what kind of people have we become when we just shot people when there is something we don't like?

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I don't think we Brits should interfere in US gun laws whatever our opinion. We have enough things that are bad over here and past history should tell us that if any nutter wants to shoot anyone he can get a gun quite easily.

Just having a gun is fun, but more fun is shooting it. Targets are ok, but things that move are more fun. Hunting takes skill and/or patience, but there are other, easier, things to shoot...anything that moves that isn't human...oops.

I don't see why any country needs a bunch of inbred welfare recipients living in public housing who are known as the "Royal Family" either. Especially when that country has been on the downturn for years and is today basically surviving on past glories.

Give 'em all muskets, as the Constitution meant.

I will use a Musket if you do away with the internet as I am sure the Founding Fathers didn't cover it under the first amendment. Sorry it goes both ways.

That may be, that "most of those on this site have limited knowledge of American History especially the colonial period (I doubt that) for example, less than 1/3 ......" Out of this opinion I do believe that you forgot one major thing, who won! The old adage "the winner writes the history".

Also are you a history professor, or Historian, or does your job entail the complete understanding of the Revolutionary War in the United States? If not, aren't you, the pot, calling the kettle black?

Steve; There are about 16 things wrong with your narrow-minded, libertardian, secular-progressive comment; #1. YOU weren't "there"; so YOU really have NO IDEA what happened; #2. perhaps when the flake with the sell phone was first asked to GO ELSEWHERE to talk on the damned thing and he refused, and kept right on, keeping on, if the "shooter" had jumped over the seat, crammed the cell phone in the "idiot's ear", the "shooter could have enjoyed the movie, and the idiot could continue going tom movies and pissing people off with his stupid cell phone; who knows? he may even have lived another week or two before some one "took him out"? #3. You're obviously a libertadian malcontent who hates guns. #4. and you obviously think wearing a neck tie makes you look "more important"; (but your "mouth" ruins that possibility! )

I have worked with the Royal British Marines. I also have nothing but respect for them and their abilities. Problem is, these Brits had guns in their hands.

But in the general civilian population, the very method that protects them, by these royal Marines, they find appalling.

Both America and Britain, protects their ruling class lives with weapons, but find people in the general population abhorrent and even uncivilized, to protect ones own life with the same method? Go figure.

Great points.
One who believes guns kill people... not people kill people, could also now make the case for officers of the law should no longer be allowed to carry weapons anymore (since this mental case was a retired sheriff.)
Why not just get to the ridiculous end game now?
Utopia is the goal for libs, and guns don't exist in utopia.
Only Godlessness, and anything goes if you believe it's personally OK...as long as guns aren't there.

What a confused bunch of inconsistent goof balls liberals are.
There is no consistency to their religion of anti conservatism.
Contradiction to their own standards rule their views.

Kill babies if they are an inconvenience, but NEVER kill a snail darter.
Kill endangered birds by the hundreds with wind mills, but don't make a polar bear move a mile ...in the middle of an 'endless' tundra to drill for oil helping to create jobs and saving the dead American economy for humans save.
ignorant liberals suck!!

It was murder and he will do time.

The "gun nuts" will say give him life without parole, the libs who sentence him, will say "aggravated assault", and let him out in 2 years on good behavior.

According to statistics, 32 people were murdered in the US on that day, 23 of these by firearm of some sorts, , and there were 3,180 violent crimes, 230 rapes. This heinous example is the one the "anti gun nuts" will use to leave the other 39 murder victims and the 3180 violent crime victims utterly defenseless. They don't care about the rest...... just the one example.

The person who was shot was a tall beefy 43 year-old and the shooter was 71.

"The incident in the town of Wesley Chapel started when Reeves asked Oulson — who was sitting in front of him — to put away his cellphone during the previews before the movie “Lone Survivor” started.
When Oulson, a finance manager for a motorcycle dealership, continued texting, Reeves went out to tell management, police said.
After Reeves returned to his seat, the two men continued to argue. Oulson threw a bag of popcorn at Reeves, who told police that he didn’t know what had struck him and that he was “in fear of being attacked.”
Reeves pulled his gun and fired, according to law-enforcement authorities."

"The only thing Oulson appears to have loved nearly as much as his wife and child, is motocross. His Facebook likes are filled with professional motocross racers, and he has a profile on a dirt bike social network."

Looking at photos of the tattooed macho man "victim" is my warrant for describing him as testosterone poisoned as well as his love of dirt bikes and motocross. Note that the shooter had attempted to enlist management in helping with this obnoxious texter, a liar who was claiming to text a 22 month old baby, and who confronted the shooter about his having contacted management and who did throw a bag of popcorn in the face of the 71 year old.

I'll clarify my position

I am not anti gun in controlled circumstances..

Target shooting
Hunting
Pest control

You guys could possibly give more examples as it is not part of our culture over here... ( not meant to be taken in a holier than thou attitude)
I have a hobby shooting a camera some people shoot with guns... not a problem when its controlled.

I am anti gun when it comes to civilians in daily life carrying deadly weapons like what happened in Tampa. He seen the red mist and has now ruined the victims life his life and more importantly all the family around them.. they will be victims of not war but a momentary lapse in self-control.
I'll clarify my position br br I am not anti gun ... (show quote)

you mentioned pest control; there are many two legged varmints in this GREAT country.

Do you have inside information? Why do you have such a one sided opinion without the inside information? I'm not saying he should have, then again, I not saying he shouldn't have. I haven't made up my mind. Once more, what happened to innocent till proven guilty in a court of law? At least there the jury will have testimony and facts gleaned from the scene that prosecution will present.

How about not spreading rumors and opinions developed off rumors. Let the legal system take care of it.
