Keep posting Robin, we enjoy the pictures even if we don't comment. Thanks for sharing. Bee

Bee I'll keep posting believe me. I don't comment on every picture I see, either. What got me was that a post with such a popular subject as
Eagle in Flite could get so few viewers. This Post has had over 1000 viewers in the last 18 hours. The one I was talking about has had about 220 in the last 4 days. To get viewers you must have an inviting Title line I guess. Cheers, Robin

I think it has to do with saturation. Not photoshop saturation, but over exposure due to our country's supreme media ability to overdo just about everything that happens in the smallest detail. First came the demise of Eagles due to pesticides, then came resurgence of the species, sprinkled with happenings like an occasional crackpot hunter shooting an Eagle and even Wind Farms doing them in. It could be the celebrity status syndrome. But I really don't think it has anything to do with the quality of your work. I belong to a big camera club that has presentations for critique. I also am an avid perennial gardener and love to take macro photos of prize roses. They get a yawn with an often comment, "it's a picture of flowers". So don't be put off by lack of Eagle comments. I spent a week last fall shooting Eagles on the Platte River in NE. I am sure comments if offered would include "it's a picture of birds".

Hamtrack Thanks much for your comment. What I was chagrinned about was how few people had even come to the posting of eagles in flite. The EIF post has received about 215 viewers in 4 days. This post has had over 1400 viewers in less than a full day. Cheers, Robin

I was a little put off by the term "bald headed eagles". I think of them as bald eagles and thought the reference was some kind of put-on.

Why do I get so few views on my eagle presentations?

My name isn't displayed on the subject line . If I had a bad reputation people wouldn't look at anything with my name on it until they had been counted. There are no sample pictures shown which might scare away potential viewers.. I used the following title this past Friday or Saturday and have as of 13 January,1500 hours mountain time, under 200 hits. Prior to me putting up this sample I had over 2000 hits on three of my last four presentations. The title is: Eagle in Flite, Sequence. Is the presentation name that bad? Fans like BIF but not EIF? Comments are of course welcomed. I'm just really mystified at the lack of response to my eagle pics

Cheers, Robin

Well, for your ego, it now has over 1400 views. To be honest, they aren't that good. I wouldn't have posted a single one of them. Sorry, I'm just being honest. The reason I don't look at many of the pictures in the image gallery section is because this is a forum full of beginners and a lot of other beginners stroke the OP's ego with a lot of comments. One reason could be because a lot of beginners don't have an eye for talent. Snapping an image of an Eagle with it's wings cut off or blurry is not a good image. I've never taken a picture of an Eagle except from a zoo. Yes, I'd be happy to get any picture of an Eagle even if it's not a great shot. But I wouldn't post it unless I thought it was great.

Bald Eagles are a very common post here. I don't often open because I have seen so many of them. Hummingbirds, herons, egrets, and osprey are posted daily here as well. I shoot the common birds to stay in practice, so the eagles are good to practice on. I just posted some gulls and geese in flight. Just regular subjects, but if someone is interested, they can view them.

MT is probably hit on the most important thing, the title. It's another part of the marketing thing you were mentioning.

The discussion section may get more attention from people than the galleries.

A.J., I live in PA also. In fact I just learned of an eagle's nest not far from my house. I have never seen a Bald Eagle in the wild myself, but now that I know where the nest is I will hopefully get to see one, and maybe even photograph one. I am going to attach a photo of the nest, as I have never seen one as close as this before. The nest is about 5-8' in diameter, from what I can see. Yes, I know they are protected and there is NO way I would ever harm one.

You must live in North Dakota. I recognize their state tree.

It may be coincidence, but I've noticed the number of views depends to a great part on the time of day you post. Due to the volume of posts, if you post at a time few are on-line, by the time people get on-line there may be so many posts after yours there are many pages between.
Cheers, Neil

Post holiday hangovers and too many things to do. No time to browse the web. Please do not take lack of viewership personally. I posted some interesting ice crystal shots (interesting at least to me) and had a total of 1 comment.

Bald Eagles seem to be one of the more popular Bird subjects on this forum. As a result the quality levels varies a lot. A major portion are Eagles sitting on tree limbs looking bored or hungry. Many posts are BIF. Among the BIF many are nicely done but may be much a like. A good number of the post are very nice presentations. When I see outstanding Eagle posts I like to respond with positive comments. Many times I will see nice presentations and will not comment. Just enjoy them for the moment.
Just because you don't receive the comments you expected does not mean your work is bad, just that there is a lot of competition
in this subject and some people may feel that if you have seen one Bald Eagle you have seen them all.

There are quite a few places to see Bald Eagles in PA. You might want to check

http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt?open=514&objID=978032&mode=2

I live in eastern PA, so eagles on the Delaware or Hawk Mountain are available to me.

I live in the Southwestern part of PA., Pittsburgh would be the nearest place to go to see Bald Eagles.
If I were to go to that county, I would have to hire someone to drive me. I stay as far as I can from Pittsburgh and Allegheny County~ too much traffic congestion and shooting crime~ .

Always hoping maybe some day, a Bald Eagle will nest closer to home in an area that I'm able to get to with binoculars and possibly a camera. :-D
