Hi all,
I see a lot if info about Photoshop & LR. Is Aperture not used/ nit well regarded? Or don't the Mac folks post here?
Thanks! Maureen
Mac user here (since '97). I just prefer LR. Camera updates come quicker than with Aperture...and since twice now I bought newly cameras, I only had to wait a short period of time before LR could properly read the RAW file. I also thing it does a better job with noise and shadow/highlight recovery.

Is there a short answer to why you like PS better? They both come with a price tag. Wish I could try before I buy.
Thank you . Maureen

I'm a MAC user. I have PSE11 and Aperture. I use the latter with a combination of Perfect Photo Suite 8 which I highly recommend that you take a free 30 day test drive of the product. It will bring your PP to a new level and is incrementally more intuitive than anything that has the words "Photoshop" attached to it. I tired of pouring through my PSE11 instructional manual - now I simply get the job done quickly, efficiently and pleasingly!

You have to spend more time here. There are many Apple users and users of Aperture.
Thanks so much! Love a free trial!

Let me know how it goes. I learned about the program from one of the members here who took one of my shots and made it beautiful. It turned out that is what he was using. I have been using it now for a couple of weeks and I am in love with the program. AAMOF, I ordered the program just a few days into the free trial!

I suspect you will find better answers to your question on the Post Processing Digital Images forum of UHH.

One issue that I perceive, assuming I've been informed correctly (I use Windows), is that Aperture imports your photos directly into some sort of database, which means the images are not available if you corrupt/uninstall/kill Aperture in some fashion. The other products listed store the images as files on your hard drive in a universal format. That's a major benefit, in my opinion.
My step son recently upgraded the OS in his Mac, rendering Aperture inoperable. He quickly found out, much to his chagrin, that he had no access to any of his images. He still doesn't have a remedy.
