Matte. Most professional photographers use matte. (No fingerprints or reflections)

:hunf: OK, bet you were looking for this reply: If you pass by a small pond every day and see water, then one day the pond is dry and there is a dead duck lying there, then by your logic, ducks come from water?

LOL :XD:

Well, that does it, then - 100% of respondents agree that glossy is better. Therefor it must be so!

Not so simple (IMHO). Glossy does show better detail and contrast in a photo. It also can present a problem with glare which in certain viewing conditions may obscure the gains, it also shows fingerprints. Matte has somewhat less detail and contrast but doesn't have a glare problem. Then satin is kinda a happy medium between the two.

Glossy is my default, and that is the largest print paper supply I happen to have.
Some photos look better on matte. Sometimes taking a look in the frame you intend to use might change you feelings of vote.

In part, the answer depends on lighting conditions for print display.

A matte finish reflects far less glare than a glossy finish.

Thus the viewer may more readily perceive the printed image under otherwise unfavorable lighting conditions when viewing a matte print.
