I hate to be too negative, but I bet it was a happy and well paid volunteer who was glad to get the estra bucks.

I'll admit she was smiling.

I can only give UPS 5 Stars for their effort on Christmas eve deliveries. We live in a rural area - 15 mi from town with streets and homes scattered all through the hills - UPS delivered to our house "TWICE" that day - once at about 11 AM and the second time 6 PM he said they were out the second time with the Air Freight over night stuff.

Our service has been super for years and I am also rural. What has changed of late is that USPS is being used on the last delivery leg quite frequently. I get a couple deliveries a week and I follow some items right to the delivery center 25 miles from me and next day go to post office and then to me.

I have some of that going on now also - mostly with the items I order from Amazon. The good thing for me is the post office is 2 blocks from my house - ya and I still have to use a post office box as our street is still a private street with no USPS delivery.

And I think they fudge their numbers sometimes too. I once got my delivery notice email shortly after getting home from work about 3:00pm, saying that my package had been delivered at around 1:30. I went out and checked all around and no package was to be found. Thinking it had been stolen by some neighborhood kids or something, I called UPS, and gave them the tracking number and they said they would look into it. About 4:30 the doorbell rang, I went to the door to see the UPS driver getting back into his truck, and my package sitting on the doormat. Seems he must have been off doing something else and marked mine, and who knows how many others packages, as delivered 3 hours before it really was.
And I think they fudge their numbers sometimes too... (show quote)

It could have been a simple mistake on his part. It's easy to scan or grab the wrong package when you have 200 or maybe more in a small confined place and you are in a hurry.

Here it is the 27TH and the news is loaded with the whiners and how their holiday was ruined. If you're that fragile you shouldn't be taking these enormous risks that could be so devastating. Some State Attorneys General are 'investigating.' Hopefully, congress is done with Roger Clemens and can devote some time to this issue. I'm so thankful the ten or so deliveries I had were timely; how could I possibly explain to people that I waited too long to order their gift? If I didn't get them on time, I ordered too late. Time to sue someone! (I've got to get rid of this attitude and start the new year off properly. Hopefully the countdown will go smoothly! Sure hate to blame someone for ruining my New Years Eve!)

No...you're exactly right! State it how it is and it's not UPS or FedEx's fault it lies more with the companies who promised they could fulfill orders and have them delivered by a certain date. Those companies just wanted the money and didn't care what happened on the other end. Again we as a country are so eager to pass the blame onto others rather than accept the responsibility ourselves.

We ordered custom imprint christmas "new address" announcement postcards on Dec 10th with 7-day expedited delivery costing more than the cards. Watched the package sit at UPS terminal from the 18th-24th before they delivered to local P.O. on the 24th for delivery to me the 26th.

Full refund from Vistaprint for expedited shipping just for asking! Nothing like late Xmas cards...

Interesting to think Fed Ex was held up as an example of a business that could deliver while OBamacare web site was held up as a boondogle!

Thank-you, but really I was just being a clown. Peoples expectations were high and many are not forgiving. I was just amused at the attitudes and and idea that such a situation could be so catastrophic. :D :D

No offense, but we're doing just fine without any political innuendo.
