I read yesterday that both UPS and FedEx had delivery delays right before Christmas, and some Christmas presents will not arrive till today, hopefully. People are furious.

I have had outstanding service from both companies, but I don't wait till the day before I want an item to order it. If you don't allow enough time for delivery, you shouldn't complain when the item doesn't arrive. All sorts of problems can arise, and delays are a part of life. Planning ahead can avoid late deliveries. The article talked about a little kid and a grandmother who had nothing to open on Christmas morning. They blame UPS for that?

Afternoon purchases on Dec 23

No delivery of it on Dec 24

Maybe because of millions of orders on the 23rd

And they are angry about that ?

Dumb asses..

I agree. When you think of the logistics theses 2 companies face during Christmas its amazing. Last year UPS delivered 123,000,000 packages Christmas WEEK!

I was one of those who waited till the last minute for a gift I ordered on a whim from Amazon for one day delivery on 12-23. They and UPS sent me an email saying it would be delayed until Thurs or Fri.

But I got the package on Christmas Eve at 7:45 and was pleasantly surprised.

I wanted to order my wife a present from LL Bean. They didn't have her size earlier but last Saturday on a whim I decided to see if they had gotten more stock. They had. I ordered the item fully expecting delivery after Christmas. They have been offering free shipping. Ordered on Saturday. Shipping notice via Email received Sunday. Package delivered on Christmas Eve, sent second day air! I am very pleased with LL Bean!
UPS did pretty well too!

Absolutely, not only delays, but peoples lives we're talking about trying to get packages here that were ordered too late or giving the benefit of the doubt, backordered. We've become such a selfish nation that it concerns me how our youth envisions their lives growing up.

I hope everyone here had a joyous Xmas and will have a fantastic, happy New Year.

There must be quite a bit of pressure on the drivers to get packages delivered quickly, and on the loaders to get the trucks filled quickly.

Yep, saw the same bird there also when I was stationed on Governors Island... Amazing aircraft..... One of my many favorites for sure.. And it still was setting records even on it's last flight from L.A. to Dulles end destination to the Smith. just a few minutes over an hour.... not bad for an acft that was over 30yrs old at the time.....

Many of us are pretty spoiled and when things don't go exactly right....I will not be surprised is some sort of class action suit is initiated. After all, my dog became despondent when his new collar didn't arrive as promised and someone is going to pay for that! My holidays are totally ruined. There must be something in the constitution that will protect me, or at the very least it was probably a Democrat or Republican failing!(Pick one.) Meanwhile, Happy Holidays, it's been a fun year!

Met a UPS driver once...long ago...They are timed and have a very tight schedule..."You should be at Jerry's house at 2:37pm"...etc

I agree, people buy at the last minute and think theirs is the only package the seller or carrier have to deal with. I was actually quite astounded as I drove to my family Christmas gathering yesterday, to see a FedEx truck coming out of a neighborhood. The driver had her elf hat on, and I'm sure those she was delivering to where pleasantly surprised to see her at their door on Christmas day. I thought that it was too bad that she couldn't be spending the day with her family instead of catering to those without the patience to wait another day or two for their stuff.

I hate to be too negative, but I bet it was a happy and well paid volunteer who was glad to get the estra bucks.

And I think they fudge their numbers sometimes too. I once got my delivery notice email shortly after getting home from work about 3:00pm, saying that my package had been delivered at around 1:30. I went out and checked all around and no package was to be found. Thinking it had been stolen by some neighborhood kids or something, I called UPS, and gave them the tracking number and they said they would look into it. About 4:30 the doorbell rang, I went to the door to see the UPS driver getting back into his truck, and my package sitting on the doormat. Seems he must have been off doing something else and marked mine, and who knows how many others packages, as delivered 3 hours before it really was.
