The more I looked at the snow, the colder I got. Cold turns us blue. This variation I went into Topaz B/W-2 and used Cyano. Combo comparison as previous. Thank you Mama for forcing me to exercise my brain as I sip cup of Java #2.

Your welcome.

Like this one a lot, very minimalist. The balance of the stem arching across the frame lets you break the usual compositional rules with success, in my opinion. The snowy background is essential to the success with this one. Sharp, detailed, well framed, processed for impact. I would like it printed fairly small, matted simply, and in a barn wood frame.

It would also be good in black and white for a more stark moody version.

Thank you. I played a little more with it. I made it a B & W and I also did one where I just lowered the saturation.

Simply Elegant! Graceful and Natural.

And yet, for all that, I would wish for "just a shade" darker background (and I mean infinitesimally subtle), probably grey, so I could see the snow better. I don't want the snow to "pop", just be discernible from the background. Whereas Russ is a master at black from black, you will soon be the master of white from white if you keep this up.

Thank you.
I have played and played with this and can't seem to get the background darker without making it look like I painted it on. I had some luck lowering the contrast, but then I get a funky area on the left I am not sure what to do with.

Yep. You and me both. Everything I tried made it worse, and that is never my intent, so I've come to embrace the original for all the beauty that it holds already.

I think it is as good as I can get it with the skills I have. I think I will just leave it as is. :-D

The type of simple composition I find extremely pleasing. Perfectly framed and exposed. Ditto on all the kudos mentioned so far :)

C.M., this was not meant to make your grass "pop" as much as it was an attempt to divorce it from the background.

Thank you for giving this a try Bob. I think if you toned it down a little I would like it better. I would like to see a smoother transition from the grass to the background.

Love the simplicity and delicate feel of this, CM. You got the whites right as I think white on white can be quite the challenge. A quiet beauty in the winter snow.
