Tokina makes some excellent lenses. The 100mm 2.8 macro was the first non-Nikon lens that I bought and I was so impressed that I went out and got the 11-16 2.8 when I was in the market for a w/a. It's very well built and extremely sharp. Excellent choice.

If using a filter is important to you check which lenses will (and will not) allow you to mount one. Many wide angle lenses in this range have a bulbous front element preventing filter attachment.

The Tokina is sharp, but it has serious problems with lateral CA and flare. I had one and got rid of it for those reasons. The Canon is very decent. My choice, after trying them all, was the Sigma 8-16. The sharpest of all--even into the corners--already at max aperture. If you like wide, those extra two millies make a huge difference. CA is not bad and good work against the light. I am now FF with the Nikon 14-24, but still use it often.

My experience with the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 has been great. I have it on a Nikon D300.

I would consider the Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle f/4-5.6,
or the Canon 17-40mm f/4 L Wide angle Refurbished from Canon too.

your right about sigma . the garu of nikon . tried one sigma 10-20 and did all the test with it . his findings was he quit using his nikon wide , and now uses the sigma for all his wide shots . he says it's made better than the nikon and a lot sharper , check it out.

You have a solid Canon camera. Buy a Canon lens for it.

I'm thinking the Sigma 18/35 f1.8 would be a good choice for ya. Have read it had some focus problems on one of the Canon bodies. For group shots and other semi wide angle stuff this should be the ticket for you. Read the reviews on this baby. I'm going to get the Siggy 18/35and the Tokina 11/16 dx ii for my Nikon d7k. Good luck

I shoot a Nikon D5200 and own the Tokina 11-16. I love that lens. Sharp, great perspective. It doesn't autofocus with my camera, but outside of six feet, who cares? Inside six feet, manual focus feels great--not overly sensitive at all.

I use Canon 70D, want to purchase wide angle lens for group photos and landscapes. I am considering two lens, am not sure which one to buy.
1. Canon EF-S 10-22, f 3.5-4.5 USM
2. Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX-11. 11-16 f2.8
Appreciate any suggestions.

This one 1. Canon EF-S 10-22, f 3.5-4.5 USM. I have it and it's an awesome wide angle for a crop sensor body. If it weren't designed to only work with APS-C sensor Canon bodies, it would have probably been an L series lens. But 10mm is basically too wide for a full frame sensor body so Canon built this one for just the crop bodies. This lens has the equivelant focal zoom as Canons EF 16-35mm f/2.8L lens.
