Having read the comments posted on this shot, I find myself in a minority of one. I very much enjoy seeing your monochromes, and while I like the creativity you show, this one doesn't work well for me. The background is simply too distracting. The chair rungs add lines, their pants add dots and camouflage, and the graffiti swarms about their heads, all working at odds to your subjects.

As a suggestion, I'd like to see this one in color. I think that would end the distractions and let your geezers really stand out from their setting. Again, minority of one, and my opinion only. But better an honest opinion than nothing at all. And I DO like the geezers!

Hello Treepusher, thanks for commenting. My objective is to depict places and people as they are. My image shows these interesting people in their environment (natural habitat?). I can't pick the background and graffiti is an intrinsic aspect of Brick Lane. Also, I can't more than a split second to capture the image as once they see the camera the moment is gone.

Whilst I will try to add impact and drama to an image I won't try to beautify it. As to colour, I had always envisaged this in monochrome, the gentleman on the right was wearing a very brilliant orange T shirt and this totally dominated the picture to the detriment of the other subjects.

Thanks again for your input.

Graham

Graham this just says quality, well done a fantastic capture As I see it, young motor bike enthusiast
(helmet on arm) quizzes old TT rider (Manx tattoo) and central character probably had a bike run over his nose. Sorry I watched Poirot last night and it hasn't worn off yet

Great photo, Graham, and you may not understand this comment, but it looks like some of the Boston Red Sox reminiscing about their 2013 World Series victory at some time in the future (for those in the UK, many of the Red Sox players wore pretty full beards).

Thanks Steve. Just a quick question, are the Red Sox a cricket team? ;-)

As good as they smack the ball; they may be fairly good at it. Keep up your keen eye, your brilliant knack for capturing uniquely awesome shots in spot-on clarity; and most of all your zest for life and sense of humor.

Totally agree with you Graham, I love real life photos.
If you want to ponce up pics in Photoshop then you don`t even need a camera, just download off the net and mix em up how you like.
Like you say real people in their own environment wins every time, background and all, it`s all part of the story. :-)
