pentax cameras and lenses

Is "NOT ADVERTIZING" a problem?.. There will be geezers like you and me, mostly old, like you, that are independant thinkers, who don't need to travel with the masses, as they say. It is certainly NOT that they know better, it's just their security in numbers issue and insecurity with independant thinking, keeps them canon and neekon supporters.. I have yet to witness evidence of those brands superiority, have you??
Up, you ARE, a little full of yourself.
Don't confuse independent thinking with old and set in your ways. Stuck in the slow lane does not make you a rebel or an independent thinker.
I dumped Pentax and stuck my neck out and bought a brand new Canon T90 when it first came out. THAT was being a rebel, something you obviously will never understand. The masses were shooting Pentax.
To me a camera is simply a tool, a means to an end. And that end has nothing to do with nostalgia. Nothing wrong with shooting a Pentax or film or any other brand. But don't try to label those that are not just like you, as something that they are not.
I did a lot of research before I settled into a brand, with an eye to where I was trying to go photographically. And for me, there was only one company that was forward thinking enough for where I was trying to go.
And Up, I hate to let you in on it, but you may just BE the masses. The masses tend to belittle and label those not exactly as themselves, in order to prop themselves up and appear to be something they are not.
Up, sometimes, it's just hard to see the forest for the trees.
Happy shooting

Canon and Nikon may have 95% of the DSLR market, but so many of their owners are really casual users, all that they own is the body and a kit lens. Pentax could get these types to switch with the right advertising and the right product positioning.
I am already a Pentax DSLRer, not because I am against Canon and Nikon, but because I have so much Pentax glass from the film era AF and MF days...Fs, FAs, As, Ms, Ks and the 8 element 50mm f1.4 M42 plus a couple of AF Tamrons and Sigmas.
Those serious folks on the Canon and Nikon side with lots of glass would need something truly mindbendingly 'must-have' to switch to Pentax.
When I got into dSLR's my first was a Canon 350D which I liked. I then went to a Canon 5D full frame and loved the photos that came out of it. But I was also getting tired of the size, weight of the body, L lenses.
I started researching going back to a crop camera and obvious choice would be Canon since I have good Canon lens, but ended up switching to a Pentax K-5 II and sold all my Canon gear. I really like the images the K-5 II produces. Being weather proof and built in stabilization is a bonus. Plus the Pentax lens are all backward compatible.
Pentax has just come out with the K-3, which on paper surpasses both Canon & Nikon crop cameras.

Pentax cameras and lenses
What about them? :?: :?: :?:
My Spotmatic is still fine...great 1.4 x 50 lens.
Where can I get what for it?
Not sorry to say that all I have is a Pentax P3 with 35 to 70mm a 70 to 210mm and a 2X converter...
I started at 13 with a K1000 bought at KMart using my paper route cash. I don't still have that one since I used it in trade to pay for the P3 which I do still have.
Keep the lens, sell camera, on ebay, and get digital pentax and another lens or two... you'll be back at it in no time and loving it. RJM
This has been one of the better discussions I have followed on UHH....what I am taking away (and being a Pentax user) is tat Pentax/Ricoh is/has become a strong contender offering another option to the person wanting to purchase or change to a new DSLR....I also think that Ricoh wants to be a larger player in today's DSLR market and is showing that starting with their K7, K5, K5II, & K5IIs and now the K3....competition between manufactures generally provides the market with better made and a more refined product(s) it definitely is going to be interesting to follow.....Great Discussion !!!!!
NOT that you don't have an opinion, and I'm happy for you. I had a complete, and I mean COMPLETE Canon system when I owned my EOS 30D, and I loved it. Honestly, though, I didn't want, or couldn't afford the prices canon wanted for a lot of their L series lenses, and their cheeper lenses were simply that...CHEEPER, for still, way too much money. I'm sorry to have sounded opinionated, cuz I can tell from your note how very badly, opinionated SOUNDS. Thanks for waking me up to that fact I hope to never come off like you again.. DIGIT-UP, and for you I really have a DIGIT-UP!!
Well said my man. Happy pics to you!!

They are the best around. Pentax 67 is unparalleled.
I agree. But because of operating cost, and the high price of digital equipment, I am selling my beloved Pentax 6x7.
Sadly, Mercer
To SharpShooter"s comment::: Wow! so you think I'm not an "independant-sort-of-guy"?? Actually, I was just hoping to hear from others that like their PENTAX equipment, to sort of fraternize with some OTHER VERY INDEPENDANT sort of guys, that have not rolled over (to conform with what others say you should buy) to canikon B.S. Independant sort of guys are indeed, independant of approval, buying and using fabulous cameras from Sony, Fugi, olympus, PENTAX, and others. I won't join any kind of arguement Canon Vs. Nikon(which is best) because those cameras an d systems are surely vey good......Just not the ONLY great cameras and surely not the best!! Your comments are considered for what they are, from someone with insight, wisdom, lots of experiance, but with rather condescending & biased opinions. you are certainly entitled to have those opinions, and you certainly feel very free to express them in public.... Bravo ! keep your inflated confidence, it MAY be deserved?? RJM
Sharpshooter: I just re=read your opinion of me and replied to your Comments (ego-Centric, as usual) I hope you will read my latest Words on your style, or lack of it> RJM
Ended up getting away from Pentax because of AF issues that I have lamented on this site many times. Other than that, I think they make a great product. I hope they have listened and rectified the issue by now. It happened 2-3 years ago.
