David - have you tried changing this image to black & white? It might be my monitor, but I'd also see if lightening the exposure has an impact on the snow and the green of the pines. Those are just PP ideas to see where else this solid image might go.

I lost many family members there and find it difficult to view these photos and watch movies about it. I think your photo captures the coldness of that place.

I'm so so very sorry for your loss. This picture captures everything cold about that place but I also love the capture he got, it evokes so much thought. So Sad

Evocative for sure. Note the old glass insulators on the posts. The wire was electrified.

It amazes me that a faction of people out there don't believe this ever happened. :-( The World should NEVER forget something like this.

Ive done a lot of work on line trying to get information about the different camps and the world would not believe how many death and work camps the Nazis had there were hundreds of them all over Europe

Did you notice how the barbed wire is closer together at the bottom? No escape there.

Thats not barbed wire on the bottom, it more like 10,000 volts. You can't get with 10 inches of it. You can imagine the results.

That is the truth it was electrified all the way around and than they had very big rot weilers running the inner fence and the guards armed with machine guns

A thoughtful photo. How new it still looks. It is good that the subject never be forgot as how easily governments can slip and slide into the dark side. These camps have not gone away, just empty and waiting in various countries. It is sad to remember that the British were the first to use them. Excellent photo by the way.

Hideous place, but your shot is fantastic. Perfect in black/white, and I love the composition.

That's one grim and austere place. Your photo has captured that. The snow and cold only add to that sense of bleakness.
