If you'd only put the colour or B & W ones on here I think everyone would have given a  but seeing choices of either colour/B & W sort of makes it difficult to choose. Nevertheless they are great pictures and to be perfectly honest I like B & W, simply because I think it shows more mood and/or depth and makes you look into the image more.

I agree but prefer the color...sunsets deserve color. However, either set is a very good set.

I like 2 and 4 the best. For me the color shot of number 1 makes the boats look muddy although the sunset is very pretty. The boats stand out in B&W. I think I would have included more of the boats. For number 4 I like the contrast and sharpness. If it was me I would have cropped closer on the boat. I think it is a nice photo without the sunset and just the boat. I hope that makes sense. Very good shots.

Thanks!

Hi Alissa, my take isÂ…you have two subjects here. In colour, the sunset demands centre stage but in B/W the boat(s) take the spot light. Either way you have a very nice set of captures.

I haven't gone through all the posts, so I apologize if I'm being repetitive.

To me the first picture looks best in B&W. The top picture of the power boat is really good in color. The blue-green water works so very well with the blue-gold of the sky.

I like them both and as someone here said the tone is quite different between color and B&W. Color shows a beautiful sunset but the B&W makes that sunset look like storm clouds ... so it doubles the impact of the photo itself.

Great job and thanks for sharing with us!

  I prefer color for sunsets, but your subject is the boats - very successful composition when image is equal in both B&W and Color.

Best shot for me ... second in B/W because the subject is close and the color detracts. The boats stand out and tonal range is good.

Second best, last shot because of the warmth of the sunset, but if the boat were bigger, I'd probably say B/W

Thanks.

I like them both but if you are interested in a good black & white you should try Topaz B & W Right now they have a 50% discount. It is a great program and you can try it for 30 days on a free trial. (If you would like to take advantage of the coupons announced during the webinar, they are "barclayweb10" a 30% discount off ALL products, including the Complete Collection, and "barclaybw", a 50% discount off of Topaz B&W Effects. :) They are only valid until 11/3/13.)....Rich

I love to take photos of boats,& living so close to the lake allows me to do that.Your photos are beautiful but the colored photos are my favorite.I always like to capture my subject as it appears to me,which is always with a lot of color!
