I've seen a lot of your work here. You are quite talented. Your advice is always helpful too.

Sue, though I'm not moving very fast, I'm working on a foto website, so that I'll be able to share my work with my fellow Hogs.

Yes. The only mammal capable of free flight. Congratulations. And, yes, they are beautiful animals, although the only close shots I get are of bats in rehab or foster care.

I shoot mostly what time and nature have done to the works of man, though I seem to be doing more and more landscape these days. Light is critical to me. There are places where the light is very special for one reason or another and I find it easiest to get nice shots in those places. I like to make people think and to show beauty where one might not expect to find it (or, for that matter, where one would).

My passion is nature photography, from macro to long telephoto. I belong to a very active photo club that has competition each month with a different theme. I have found some of the themes challenging and out of my comfort zone. This has been a great learning experience for me and an opportunity to think outside the box. It has improved my photography skills and I have learned a lot. I highly recommend this if you have access to a club.

Flying mammals!? Forgive my stupidity, what is in that category? Are bats mammals or rodents?

Edit: posted before I read further down. Bats are very cool! Never tried to photograph one though.

I have an old Nikon macro lens that I used before I went to a Canon. Old as it may be, it is better glass than my Nikon kit lenses. I used an old film flash too. I like scenery too.

My favorite subjects are people. Especially musicians. When I get that perfect expression or "mood" coupled with a technically sound photo, I'm elated! Events are fun, too, because I like to photograph people interracting with each other. I'd love to put together a portfolio of just "people laughing." It makes my day.

I think that's great! I've been checking out some photography clubs around me, but have not yet joined one. I've checked into some photo meet ups, but most of the interesting ones are quite pricey. I'd really like to meet local photogs to get to know and maybe make some friends with like interests.
