I just purchased Corel PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate off ebay for $31. with free shipping. I have seen the ap on line for How To Use. I've used corel products before & found them to be a great product at a great price. I couldn't pass it up for that price. Sorry I can't tell you more because I just bought it.
By the way great photos "windycmt"

I recently upgraded X2 to the X4 version. Have used Paintshop Pro since version 5, I like it for what I need. Cost for me is the big factor. I bought Photoshop 5 in the late 90's. Used it and Paintshop until Vista would not except my version 5.

I have been purchasing PSP for some years now and got up to PSP X3. But, since learning PS, I have stopped purchasing it and don't use it any more.

I also use Paint Shop 4 Pro and found it is easier to learn than the program "Gymp". The price was right. I am still learning " layers". I find that now I post process all photos because I always see room for improvement.
(notice I don't have an wrinkles that is in the picture)

I had both Photoshop and Corel's Photo-Paint from the very beginning because my job found them useful.

In 2003 I quit upgrading because my job didin't require them.

Recently my job does find them useful again, so I upgraded from Photoshop 8 to Photoshop CS5 using the lease version (fully functional) that is available. I upgraded Photo-Paint 8 to Paintshop Pro X4, and I also upgraded my CorelDRAW 8 to CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5, which comes with Photo-Paint X5. I also downloaded a free trial version of Adobe Lightroom 3.

I've spent the last six months using all six programs. My favorite for quick and easy, down and dirty editing is Lightroom.

If I need to do the really techy, difficult stuff, my favorites are PaintShop Pro X4 and CorelDRAW.

I terminated my Photoshop CS5 lease on December 31, 2011, mainly because PSP X4 does everything that CS5 does but at 1/10th the cost, and I understand that Adobe is going to make it very difficult to upgrade to CS6 and future versions, unless the public can have an effect like they did with Netflix and Bank ATM fees.

Watch BestBuy and Staples. The regular price is about 99, but one of those stores usually has a sale for 39 or 49. I always buy the new version this way instead of 'updating' direct from Corel which usually is more expensive.
The Program definitely has a LOT of capabilities and is quite easy to learn.... still haven't read the book, or gotten and add'l training and have managed to get a lot of nice work done with it.

What did Russelray Say????

Paint shop pro 4x or what ever, does not even come close to doing what Adobe Photoshop CS5 can do, not even remotely close.

I'm talking about the real use and complete list of things it can do, not simply copy ,clone, extract, colour in, type things. Any $20 programme can do those things.

But to compare Paint shop Pro to Adobe Photoshop CS5 means that a person really has no idea of the indepth programme that CS5 really is, nor are aware of its full capabilities.

I use Photoshop and Corel Painter 11 as well, which is a very different beast to Corel Paintshop Pro.

Read your bio and yes it all makes sense to me. Maybe it's because I'm from Rochester NY, visit the Eastman HOuse with all the cameras of the world, friends and family work for Kodak, my brother the big boss over roll coating, retired now.

I downloaded the trial version of PSPX4 and am attempting to learn to the more advanced edit functions right now. I have tried quite a few more basic editing programs, starting with the manufacture's suites provided by Olympus, Minolta, Sony respectively. I used Google's Picasa and Irfan, and Faststone Image Viewer. So far so good, so good with X4 on the basic photo adjustments. I do prefer Faststone for orgaizing my photos, which I then open to edit in X4- Faststone Image Viewer is just a lot faster on my pc. One of the reasons Corel appealed me is because one of the old hands here, LAPhoto (I think), a contributor with a wealth of knowledge, and a person who seems to have been intimately involved with editing software since the get go, suggested that Corel can do most of what PhotoShop offers but for a fraction of the cost. Also he shared that Corel was, and is written for Microsoft operating systems, where as Adode's PhotoShop works better with Apple computers. I don't know what that means exactly, but I went with it:)
