Very interesting, love trivia.....I'm not barking, but I might growl a little.

Wolf moon 'cause the Native Americans used to hear the wolves howling a lot during the full moon in January. Guess they never considered the cold makin' 'em howl.

And here I thought it was "Wolf Man Jack" that started that tale. (just showing my age I guess)

OK...I'm getting confused...LOL...I posted this tonight under the thread "tonights moon"....but I have been following this thread since I just got my 1-4 lens last month for Christmas...

Too many threads with the same content....anyway, very happy with what I am able to do with this lens. I bought it for wildlife, never took the moon before...but I can see it's gonna open up the possibilities for me.....

Well for me it was between this lens and the prime too....but because I do need flexibility I went with the 100-400. I think it depends on what you are shooting.....if I was always shooting wildlife far off, I would have gotten the prime. But many times I found my subjects too close for the prime....so, what I'm saying is, I don't really think one is better than the other. They are both great lenses...just depends what you are doing with them.

As Tracey pointed out a lot has to do with what you are going to use it for. I now own both and to be honest do not see much if any difference in the IQ. I really enjoy wildlife but have found times the 400mm was just too big. Not often but... I also enjoy shooting other thins so the 1-4 is defentaky going to get a work out. I originally got the 400mm because i questioned the IQ of the 1-4 but am a little sorry I did. If I was a pro it might be different but I am not.

Either way you won't be sorry, just decide what you want to use it for.

As an example of what I am saying, here are a couple of shots from today using the 100-400mm. Neither would have fit in the 400mm prime, one was at 250mm and the other at 120mm.

I have found the 100-400 to be of great value at zoos. The subject are not always far away and the prime would not work. glad i have the 1-4.
My moon shot tonight was taken with the 1-4 and a 2s extender.

Hey I haven' heard any reference to wolf Man Jack for many years I use to listen to him all the time.

I thought I would include a couple of shots I took last year with the 10 - 400 both are at 400.
