A real shame that because of the inability of Elected politicians to agree on anything the US Government has closed its doors. 800,000 government employees have been told to stay at home because the boss can't pay them and the facilities they staff will be closed. Including the Statue of Liberty?
If there's enough indignation throughout the land and people start to band together and become a big enough nuisance to the government they'll discover that the government has agreed on at least one thing and is ready to give shelter to all those out on the streets.
F.E.M.A. stands for Federal Emergency Management Authority. Federal means the whole USA. Emergency is what the government has to get heavy about, otherwise they might lose control. Management, in that case, probably doesn't need to be explained. Authority needs even less explanation I'd have thought. Here is what they have in mind for those "wayward" ones.
http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=39324So best not to make too much noise during the next few days. I'm going to need someone to help me with my photography!

Sounds about right, vote how we tell you or we will sack you.

Since ALL of them will be retro - paid IN FULL full as soon as the governmnet is open for business again , why are they told to stay home and sit on their fat asses ?
what prevents them from continuing to work in the meantime ???

Who is out on the streets and what does the government shutdown have to do with them. If there is ever enough indignation through out the nation then maybe we can get rid of Obama.
FEMA?

I really feel bad this morning..
I got up, drank a little cup or two of Coffee, ate my breakfast, put on my Camo Clothing, loaded up my AR-15 and headed out to help quell the uprisings..
SHUCKS, there wasn't an upriser in the neighborhood.... I walked down to city hall.... hummmmmm The Mayor was there, all the clerks were there, the policemen were there or on patrol, the Ambulance crew was alert and ready if needed, the firemen were polishing the trucks................SIGH
Back to the house to read all of this wonderful wonderful stuff we get on here each day..

That's good and I hope it stays that way. But frustration builds as a situation continues. Lets hope it can be alleviated before then.
Any thoughts on why the compounds exist?

Bit different to Sky news then, they were interviewing people around the white house that were put on unpaid leave and don`t know when they return. :-)
Having worked for the Government for 20 years I am fully cognizant of the total waste of government funds, time and people....
I was reading an article where our Current President took a entourage (not other Politicians) of 24 persons on most of his trips on vacations or business... WHY. I get up in the morning and am perfectly able to get dressed, eat breakfast and go about my business.. if I understood it correctly, these 24 were not his body guards.... but flackys of various sorts.
Understanding that he has more important duties than I do (well my grandchildren might refute that) I still cannot see the need for that many people to carry his papers and brush the lint off his suit.... Bet we could save a few bucks there... don't you?
The shutdown is going to be a bother for a few days, and then things will be right back to usual... IF not, I will probably still be able to get up, dress, eat and go......

OK now when our creditors call in all the U.S. loans I suppose FEMA will come to our aid. Don't know why that crossed my mind, it just did. Crazy

I agree. Today's newspaper has the security standing around in front of Lincoln's Memorial, which is an open viewing area, and on other National parks and grounds . Why is it necessary to keep the people out of open parks, if security is still there? Oh, maybe the cashiers aren't there! Been on many hiking trails and have never seen one of these paid people. Why is it necessary to have them present to have the parks open?

I don't think this is universally the case. My daughter works as a graphic designer for the Marine Corps (Corpse?) and just got furloughed. She is not allowed to "work in the meantime" with no pay, as she would gladly do, especially if she were to be paid retroactively. However, according to the memo announcing the furlough, she will not be paid for time off, since this is unpaid leave. I'm sure there many other such cases across the country.
