Within the 30 days, if you were unhappy with what you bought, you call them and get a return authorization which gives you additional time to mail the equipment back to them.
To make a long story short twice I had problems: with an Olympus camera and Sigma lens, and with their help I got new equipment.

I purchased a used vr 2.8 70-200 nikon lens for $1200 from b & h last winter. It was rated check plus. As I used the lens, I was confused and dissatiafied as to the focusing ability, etc. i was unable to bring it back in the 30 day warranty time. Subsequently, I brought it to phototech and incurred 450$ in repairs, in the focus ring , focus operation, etc.

Who would I write to at B & H to tell them of my disappointment that they would sell an item and give it such a high rating?

Thank you.

Audrey

Another B&H rep is henryp. Also you can contact the aforementioned Hershel, but his specialty is online marketing. Both are members here and respond to PM's.

Sounds like this might just be a case of buyer's remorse ..........
I agree, why would you have paid $450 for a repair without even trying to contact B&H? WARRANTY .... DUH! B&H is a great company and I have dealt with them for several years with complete satisfaction. Don't be blaming B&H for your lack of common sense.

According to the "Joined" in her profile, she joined September 27 2013. I find it fishy too.

I think this is a good example of why you show yourself in hiding.

Thank you.

I don't have a comment on this particular issue other than to say B&H has always been a pleasure to deal with. Can't say that about A-----a across town. I walked up to some product I thought was in a public area and they shouted at me and almost threw me out.

Its a little late to be involving BH since you didn't give them a chance to rectify the problem before paying someone else to repair it. If you had called BH 2 months after you purchased it they would have probably done something for you even way past the 30 day written warranty and return policy. BH has been known as one of the most or the most fair stores I've ever done business with.

If they were to agree to do something for you in regards to that lens what would you expect to be fair?

Were I buying a used lens, I would only buy lenses predating automatic focus, as in, fully manual lenses. Then, there really is nothing that can go wrong, short of fungus on the lens elements.

Buying a high technology lens used with circuits, motors and stabilizers to go wrong... well that would be a crap shoot at best.

All my manual lenses have found new life on my Blackmagic Design Digital Cinema Camera. With the Metabones Speed Booster Adapter, the optics within the adapter actually improve the quality, and increase the speed of the lens by one full stop. Now, I have a bunch of superspeeds. Manual focus is all we ever use in motion picture production.

Looking on the bright side, you now have a Nikon 70-200mm lens in excellent condition, assuming the tech did a good job with the repairs, and you still paid way under list price for a new lens.

Forget about complaining to B&H and just get out there and use it.

I have found B&H to be awesome in their Customer Service.
I could purchase a $5,000.00 lens and if I were dis-satisfied for any reason; B&H would accept return and credit the full purchase price.
I am puzzled with your perceived problem. The fact you paid $450.00 to repair the lens without contacting B&H first is just plain dumb....IMHO

You were already in Manhattan to go to PhotoTech, why didn't you just go over to B&H?

And, what does that have to do with the OP's situation.
Video was never mentioned.
