The software being able to parrot text from the EXIF data to tell you what lens you used is not the same as its actually having a profile for a given lens mentioned in said text. You're running v5.2; as someone else mentioned, the profile for that lens got added to the database by v6.3.

This is for Lightroom, not Photoshop. Version 5.2 is the latest, and it shows many choices when processing a raw image, but not a JPEG.

The correction only works if shooting raw, not jpegs.

It seems to depend on the lens that was used because they do offer about a dozen lenses for JPEG.

how can a post processing program improve the focus of an image after it has been captured?

Not the focus, bu they can sharpen the edges in the image

Here's a good explanation.

I'm editing some pictures I took with a Nikon D600 and 28-300mm lens. LR does not recognize the lens, nor does it give me a choice to select it. Any ideas?

Hi Jerry,

I would suggest the X Rite Color Checker Passport, to create a camera/lens profile at which time LR will recognize the lens for your camera. It is a great process to actually get the right colors. The color checker is actually a reasonable price and easy to use too. When you get it let me know and I would be happy to help you with the process. It is a little more difficult than explained but well worth it.

I actually have the Color Checker - somewhere. I got it from ebay, without any documentation or software, and never bothered to download it. I'll get around to it one of these days.

Hi Jerry I had a similar sit, and LR would not let me recognize a lens and I did it through color checker and it worked .
