Stumbled on a sight called pixel-peeper. Pretty cool sight type in the lense your interested in and up pops photos using it and what camera they were using

I have both a crop sensor and full Frame Body (7000 & D3s) On the crop frame I use the Tokina 11-16, previously referenced in this post. It is everything everyone says it is and you can't find a bad review. I believe it to be the best wide angle for the price. On the FX, full frame body I shoot with the Nikon 14-24 2.8. that is a remarkable lens......

I have the Canon 10-22mm zoom wide angle and it works really well. They sell for about $700 new but you can pick one up that has been taken care of for around $500. I think that is what I paid for mine.

Have been using the Sigma 15mm. Gives me a very wide FOV, but doesn't give me the fisheye look. Just finished taking some Wide Angle shots of Waikiki from the Queen's Beach pier and no distortion at all. Need to do some PP to get rid of some of the tourists in the water and then play with HDR. One of my two favorite lenses.

I have a Nikon and bought a Tamron 10-24. I like the flexibility, but after reading the reviews I should have bought the Nikon 10-24. My other major lens is the Nikon 28-300, so these two lenses cover my needs nicely.

P.S. Read Ken Rockwell's reviews before buying. Also, you may be able to purchase a refurbished or used lens and save some money.

If you have any of the canon 1.6 sensor cameras take a look at the canon EF-S 10-22. I have one that I've used on my Canon 30d 50d & now 60d.Usually priced in the 700.00 range. Really good image quality and build quality.

If you have one, use it. Experience is the best teacher. If you don't, but have access to an SLR, as your letter implies, rent one. Other than that, a small number of authors is often recommended for general photography guidance. My recommendation is Scott Kelby.

18-55MM, IS NOT A WIDE ANGLE LENS, WHEN YOU CONSIDER CROP FACTOR OF 1.6 ON CANON OR 1.5 ON NIKON, MAKING THESE ABOUT 28MM ON CANON OR 27MM ON NIKON. CONSIDER INSTEAD ANYTHING AROUND 10MM OR 12MM, STARTING POINT.

looks like a bunch of junk. look at tokina 11-16 f2.8 canon's 10-22 f3.5-4.5, tamron has a 10-24 f3.5-4.5, and sigma has a 10-20 f3.5
