On Page 2 of this post, Marty Cordova, who writes from a secure undisclosed location, wrote:

3.President Barack Obama will always be remembered as the President that brought affordable health insurance to all Americans (just like FDR brought us Social Security).

Just read a story about a family, Andy and Amy Mangione and their 2 boys from Louisville, KY whose high deductible individual health insurance will increase from $333 / mo to $965 / mo.

HUMANA is their carrier. The letter showing the new premium carried an explanation for the increase:

" If your policy premium increased, you should know this isn't unique to Humana -- premium increases generally will occur industry-wide."

"Increases aren't based on your individual claims or changes in health status," it continued. "Many other factors go in to your premium including: ACA compliance, including the addition of new essential health benefits."

ACA, of course, is the abbreviation for the President's new law, the Affordable Care Act -- which for the Mangiones will be anything but affordable because the law adds a new tax on every insurance policy and requires a list of additional benefits the Mangiones didn’t want to pay for.

Robert Zirkelbach, spokesman for American Health Insurance Plans, which represents insurers, explained that "for people who currently choose to purchase a high deductible, low premium policy that's more affordable for them, they are now being required to add all these new benefits to their policy.

That," he says, "is also going to add to the cost of their health insurance premiums."

So, Marty, as you say he will, I sincerely hope that Obama will be remembered for this load of crap he erroneously calls the ACA.

I hope the voters see what Obama has dropped on them and he becomes even MORE of a lame duck as the 2014 elections take the Senate away from that tyrant Harry Reid.

So, on THAT point, Marty, I HOPE you are right.

Wake Up, people !!!

Phil

Why should all lawyers graves be dug to at least fifty feet?

Because deep down, they are not all that bad.

TWO TALL, SKINNY LAWYERS

You might be quite surprised ....Most of us know of the comparable relationship between Lincoln and Kennedy; but
have you ever considered the comparisons between President Obama and Lincoln?

Parallels of Abraham Lincoln and Barack Hussein Obama:

1. Lincoln placed his hand on the Bible for his inauguration.
Obama used the very same Bible Lincoln used, for his inauguration.

2. Lincoln came from Illinois .
Obama comes from Illinois .

3. Lincoln served in the Illinois Legislature.
Obama served in the Illinois Legislature.

4. Lincoln had very little experience before becoming President.
Obama had very little experience before becoming President.

5. Lincoln rode the train from Philadelphia to Washington for his inauguration.
Obama rode the train from Philadelphia to Washington for his inauguration.

6. Lincoln was highly respected by some, but intensely disliked by others.
Obama is highly respected by some, but intensely disliked by others.

7. Abraham Lincoln was a tall, skinny lawyer.
Barack Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

8. Lincoln held to basic Conservative and Christian views.
Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

9. Lincoln volunteered in the Illinois militia; once as a captain, twice as a private.
Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

10. Lincoln firmly believed in able persons carrying their own weight.
Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

11. Lincoln was undeniably, and without any doubt, born in the United States .
Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

12. Lincoln was honest - so honest that he was called 'Honest Abe'.
Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer

13. Lincoln preserved the United States as a strong nation, respected by the world.
Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

14. Lincoln showed his obvious respect for the flag, U. S. Constitution, and the military.
Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer

Amazing!!!!

Something to Ponder....

Do you think future generations will build a monument to Obama ??

phill7782,

At least I use my real name.

Let me begin by saying that you are full of . . . . ah, never mind we all know what you are full off. Another thing we all know is that you know nothing about the ACA. Kentucky has yet to set up its Exchange - which each state is required to do by law by the end of October. The Exchange will force competition amongst Insurance carriers and will audit insurance rates. The rate increase you are speaking to has NOTHING to do with ACA because the insurance rates in Kentucky are currently under the control of the State's Insurance Commission (and in Kentucky the Insurance Commission is controlled by the Insurance loby). By the way - insurance rates are set individually by each State's Insurance Commission. The ACA will force every insurer to justify their rates and send refunds (as has happened in 27 states) to the insured party.

When the ACA is fully enacted in 2014 insurance rates will be one fourth to one third lower than they are now, 40 million more Americans will be insured, Hospital Emergency rooms will no longer be the primary care giver for uninsured Americans, Hospitals will be paid for their services (today hospitals MUST provide medical services even if the person has no insurance so hospitals rely on State tax monies to cover uncompensated services), thereby, reducing the tax strain on tax payers (this means lowering taxes), and Insurance companies will no longer be allowed to cherry pick customers (you can't be turned down because of prior existing conditions, and you can't be dropped because you file a claim).

Next time phill7782 get your facts straight and try thinking for a change. Who knows, you might even find the experience interesting.

Let's all get together and come up with some positive ideas to make things better. We don't need Republicans, we don't need Democrats. We don't need liberals, we don't need conservatives. We need American patriots...That's US!!

Well, it looks like Marty and TomG have resorted to the old tactic of attacking the speaker, making generalizations without supporting FACTS and in general, throwing a tantrum.

Evidently, they can't deal with the issues in a civil manner.

So, as is my previously stated position, they are welcome to post further on this matter, but since I consider their comments irrelevant and un-important, I will just ignore them in the future.

Marty, TomG, you are dismissed.

Adding thousands of people with expensive pre-existing conditions will not lower the rates, the opposite is true.

Also, adding 40,000,000 people to a system that has a finite number of doctors, imagine the wait time.

Regarding "Universal Health Care", I would be interested to hear from our readers that live in Canada, England, Australia and elsewhere for info on how their health care systems actually work.

ie: what are the wait times for appointments, premium costs if any, condition of hospitals and anything else?

My sister-in-law lives north of Montreal and has stated many times that emergency care is top notch, but for "routine" issues or to be referred to a "specialist" can take months to be seen.

She also has the option to use "private" health coverage through her employer and prefers that since the care is much more timely. Her payroll taxes are federal, provincial, "social security" retirement and a public health care tax. Her Public Health Care tax is as much as her Federal Tax. So, the chunk taken out of her paycheck is no small amount by ANY stretch of the imagination.

Since the US Gov't and the States don't have the exchanges in operation until Oct. 1, you can use the rate calculator from Kaiser Family Foundation (a completely NEUTRAL party, BTW) at:

http://kff.org/interactive/subsidy-calculator/

and see what this Obama Care will REALLY cost you.

My coverage for my wife and me went from $660 / mo to $1,400 so ANYONE that says ObamaCare will LOWER costs needs to see for themselves.

I guess you and I would be better off if those 40,000,000 didn't get any healthcare. It's already an hour and a half wait here in Florida. I'm fortunate I have learned to give myself CPR. What do we wait for anyway? A blood pressure and weight check that I can do at home, an order for routine blood work and RX's for medications that do more harm than good. "You've had your 5 minutes. Next!"

The ACA WILL go into effect starting October 1st (start of sign-up through exchanges). Only 6 more days. Nothing you say or do can stop it. You've tried and lost. You lost in Congress, you lost at the Supreme Court, and you lost with the 2012 General Elections. Once it goes into effect the public will know that you and your friends were wrong.

Scare tactics won't work. Republicans tried that with Medicare in 1968 - it didn't work. Now not even Republicans are willing to give it up.

The WSJ, several Republican Governors (example Kentucky and New Jersey), and Republican Senate leaders (even the Sr. Senator from Texas) have come to that realization. Now Senator Cruz is reading "Green Eggs and Ham" on the Senate floor. That's what your fight has come to. He's such a clown.
