Well you know you cant stop a moving train..technology moving forward will never change..just the times we live in..all programs are progressing and moving forward to compensate for new and ever changing technology..you always have to keep up with the upgrades nothing you can do about it..I for one look forward to getting W 8 but I am a tech addict..lol.. I like a challenge ;)..

I like that Windows 8 is on somebody else's computer.

The thing I like about it is that I havnt got it; Windows
7 ultimate is on my R series Thinkpad and Windows 7 professional is on my T series Thinkpad...

There will need to be a quantum leap in platforms before I
want to upgrade.

It helps if you can discern the difference between what
the mass media tells you, you need, and the things that will actually benefit you.

Exactly. That's why I use Windows 8. Its faster, more stable , more robust, and has advanced features not in Windows 7. But I'm not here to proselytize. If you don't like it, don't use it. I won't try to convince you otherwise.

Rabbot, what don't you like about Windows 8? Now that I'm using it, I am having a hard time understanding why anyone wouldn't like it. Last night I got stuck on how to add my own photo to the start screen. I google it, got a youtube tutorial, and it was such a simple thing that I had missed. It just takes some getting used to. :D

Talking about Operating Systems, especially new and controversial ones, is similar to discussions on religion and politics. A mix of facts and emotions, and emotions generally dominate. For many everything is black and white, no shades of gray, thus the extreme negative feelings some show towards Win 8. Those folks will not be won over regardless of facts and logic.

Hey, Ive got nothing against 8. It's just that 7 works fast and reliable on my 2 laptops. Someone said something about 8 being more "stable"... 7 has never deviated from perfect performance
and has never crashed on my 2 Thinkpads, you cant get more stable than perfectly stable... to date... so I have no reason
to be parted with my hard earned for something I dont need.

Just so you know, my comments just above your post was not intended to describe people who are happy with Windows 7 and don't see a need to update. I also see no reason to update a computer that is working well under Windows 7 and I have four computers running it. I was referring to those with little or no experience with Windows 8 who seem to vehemently hate it but rarely are willing to discuss exactly why. I also have two computers running Windows 8 and couldn't be happier with their performance.

While I prefer Win 8, I would not upgrade a Win 7 installation, there is not enough difference.
