No Sir what I meant is that it was posted on September the 20th 2013. I never checked for the actual date of the article, and the body of the story didn't mention the date I assumed it was a current event.

But it is true. Ole sarg didn't say what he was calling a lie. If he dose not agree on one point he disregards the whole. After his little rant calling you a liar, I went looking for your story. It seems that Starbucks is a magnet for robbers. Wouldn't it make sense to be packing just for your own protection, just for a cup of joe - or moe - or whatever you call the stuff they sale.

And please, never apology to Ole Sarg again - he gets a swelled head when he thinks he is right.

So within 24 hrs of Starbucks announcing a ban on firearms inside its' businesses, an armed man walks into one of their stores in Henderson, NV and tries to rob the store and patrons. This crime was thwarted by an armed off-duty police officer who was in the store.
How do you suppose being robbed made the children feel about their "safe" experience. (Sorry for the sarcasm but this was the reason cited by Starbucks CEO for the weapons ban)

Actually, it was a request not a ban.

It's insightful to back off a bit and learn from the Israeli experience in the last few decades.
1. Open carry. Wherever you go in Israel you are likely to run into soldiers on leave. And the soldiers, men and women, schlep their rifles with them. Typically M4 (essentially a modernized M-16). But recently you see the Israeli "Tavor" bullpup style rifle. An excellent deterrent to crime and terrorism and sometimes there to stop an attack.
2. Open and concealed carry of pistols. The Israelis have a program where teachers and other school personnel can get a CCW. The training is thorough and superb. I'm not sure about the technicalities of "open" and "concealed" in Israel. I noticed when I saw school groups on field trips, some of the adults did not hide the pistols carried typically in simple holsters on the belt strong side. Everyone considers this sort of thing normal, and frankly to me, reassuring.
3. Open and concealed carry of pistols. Other civilians can also apply for a pistol carry permit. The training, as with teachers, is thorough and superb. There have been a number of attempted terrorist attacks which were cut short by armed civilians, both school personnel and other civilians.

Being surrounded by maniac nations which regularly launch wars of extermination...not to mention terrorism...the Israelis have become very pragmatic and realistic about armed civilians as a deterrent to terrorism and other crimes of violence. It would be foolish not to learn from their painful experiences.

And as for coffee, it is common to see both soldiers and armed civilians of both sexes at coffee shops. No one minds, sensible people appreciate the added security. And BTW, Israeli coffee is superb.

OMGosh!! There IS someone left in L.A. with a functioning brain?! Yikes, good to know. I had feared we were the last ones out when we moved here last year. I assume Sacramento will be passing a whole series of laws against you now your existence is revealed! =(

The Hi-Point I have has been very reliable at the range, no FTF (Failure to Feed) no jams etc. I like that it is heavy and it helps with the recoil, though my wife would be unable to fire it. I am getting her a glock 9 mm, my daughter bought a glock 9 mm last year and my wife liked it. My daughter is a 10 year veteran (as is my son) both are out of the service, my son lives in CO. and my daughter lives 2 miles from me. I am proud of my kids for who they are and their service. My son had been a liberal for allot of years and for the past 8 years he has seen the light (without any pestering from me) I've always let my kids make their own decisions without them knowing I disapproved, but when they ask me for my opinion I am more than willing to share with them. My son does not share my beliefs in God and I do not try to persuade him as I feel he will see the light when he is ready.

I had heard about Starbucks 'quiet' ban on hand guns but I had not heard anything about a robbery at one of their stores. Point well taken. I would not open carry in any store. I would leave the gun in the car but if I was Conceal carrying, No one would know. Rule one, respect the business that I visit.

"See what I can afford!"

Did you ever notice how many people make believe they buy a ( new ) cup everyday?

And as far as protecting children, how many have you seen in Starbucks, oh yes, the after school ( unemployed ) crowd?

In less than two weeks, you could buy your own coffee maker, buy your Starbucks coffee at Costco and make your own.

These are the same Nouveau riche, mortgaged to the hilt, or live at home with mommy and daddy, with unrealistic values and the conspicuous lack of common sense.

If you were to figure out the price of a gallon of Starbucks, it's probably over $26.00, ( 12oz. plain ) compare that to gasoline!

Well put!!!!!! It's all for show. Look at me, look at me! I buy Starbucks!!!! It means I'm very successfull!!! No you frickin dumbass, it means you don't have a clue how to manage money and are probably upside down in your mortgage and your BMW is about to repo'd. But you damn sure look important to the other clowns just like you.

I am not sure what the big deal is about Starbucks or other private businesses in asking customers not to carry. When I carry, no one is going to know it. I don't display the fact that I have a concealed weapon, so no customers or employees will know it, unless something happens which threatens my or their lives. I am not concerned about stolen property. It would be hard to justify giving someone capital punishment for something the courts would probably give a suspended or very limited jail time.
Just my opinion.

The guy at Starbucks must be talking about open carry. How else would he know that someone one was carrying? Some people who carry a gun on their hip all the time tend to forget that it is there, like wearing glasses, leave home without it and you feel like something is missing. It must be open carry.

Agreed. I was shopping for tires for my car and stopped at the Goodyear Tire Center in Arvada, CO and there was a decal on their door depicting a handgun with a red circle/slash over it. Needless to say I didn't bother entering the store!

Wouldn't find me in a starbucks for all the tea in China.
I brew a far better cup in the morning myself.
Of course, if I was forced to go in, for some unworldly reason
and since concealed carry means just that - -
they would have no reason to know
nor would I give them any

I was just thinking of what you said and came up with an amusing situation.
Because you are there, what if you had entered the store and said that you have a weapon on you, then gave the store a chance to either accept your business or for you to leave because of their policy. What do you think they would have done?
This way they can figure out how much their policy hurts their business.
Just a thought.
