I have been active on UHH for several months and have gained more from it than I gave. Only recently---three times, actually, I have had difficulties attempting to include images into topics with ongoing dialog. In consequence, I requested UHH assistance. Overall, the responses from whomever over sees UHH, were an insult to mine, or anyone's intelligence. They were brief and imprecise. That, plus repeated non-response to my requests for clarification, arguably carries with it the whiff of owners and those that operate UHH as being smug and snotty. I am at a loss to understand how this could occur on a forum of such quality in terms of participants and its advertisers. And, so it goes for the UHH.

Since it is an entirely free service and seems to have grown enormously there might be a need for compassion for the poor soul(s?) trying to keep up with it.
Often such impressions as you ascribe to the Admin originate within the receiver rather than reflecting the intent of the sender.

That's bad luck to have such a poor response. I'd like to apologise on behalf of all concerned. We hope you stay with us.
Here's the solution, hopefully, to your problem.
1. Windows Internet Explorer, the most popular browser on the Internet, often fails to load photos posted by many members, this one included. Other browsers may have problems but Firefox works just fine for me.
2.You may also have a problem when posting very big images. All you need to do is reduce the size a little and be sure your photo is a .jpg file, they will post just fine.
3. When your photo appears in the forum it has been reduced in size again, click the 'Download' box to enable us to see your image at its best quality.
I hope this helps.
I wholeheartily agree, but remember this forum has 69000 "members". But beyond that, ADM is haughty, ill-tempered and sanctimonious. Check his icon--a blue emu-- what can we expect ? He does supply a useful service--but I would NOT invite him home for dinner. ALYN

I'm not in a position to comment on this specific situation one way or the other. I would, however, like to offer up my own personal dealings with administration. I'm fairly new to this forum and all other on-line forums.
I've made several 'rookie' mistakes setting up my account and managing it since I joined. I've reached out to administration for help on several occasions and received a fast, courteous and helpful response every time.
Major companies install customer service departments because things occasionally do go wrong. All things considered, I think the Ugly Hedgehog is run extremely well. I do feel bad if someone else had a bad experience.
The advice on smaller file sizes is right on target. I only use Windows and Internet Explorer so this tip might not apply, but I have better luck editing a post and adding additional pictures rather than trying a 3-picture 'bulk' upload. I also open multiple tabs within my IE session as occasionally I'll be watching a window that doesn't seem to complete. But, in another tab, I can refresh <F5> within the UHH view and I then see my topic and / or picture has posted successfully.
I have had no issues with Safari, the standard for mac, Nor with Firefox for Mac. Maybe the friend is trying to upload a big file. Do not ascribe fault on the browsers when not able to upload since all of them have the same capabiity. Is he doing a "preview"?

I have a background in Hypnosis so naturally I love the "Breathe in, breathe out" suggestions.
There is no insult intended here. I just love the suggestion.

Not saying it is so in this case, but I think many get upset and frustrated over something that is not the fault of the Admin. It is not the Admin's role to teach us how to operate our computers. It is not the Admin's role to debug or teach us security precautions. I hear complaints everyday that UHH must have a virus because the user is being directed to a porn site. The same with uploading. If the file is too large it will not upload or some browsers do not play well with this site.
Admin does not deserve some of the complaints and in my view does a phenomenal job of managing this site. I am amazed that we have not lost any of our data since I've been a member of this site. I have never had a crash from or on this site. Google has had several during this same time.
If you have a problem uploading or with your browser being redirected or whatever, by all means post it on the forum and someone will help you. I just can't see blaming Admin for something they have no control over.
If I hurt someone's feelings by pointing this out, sorry, but it is the truth.

(1)I am experienced sufficiently in time, life, and such to be aware of what originates from within and that which originates from outside, especially with respect to the attribution of blame.
(2)I have worked professionally with computers since the very first---those before Wang, Apple, etc., first appeared on the public market. So, I have no need assistance whatsoever in with respect to computer operation.
(3)UHH lists aHelp category under its heading, which seems the logical source to request UHH website assistance, not other members of the forum. Furthermore, one would expect that the information offered by Help be other than incomplete, misleading and flawed; and, moreover, I would expect those at Help to be forthcoming rather than to repeatedly ignored request for clarification.
(4)And, finally those who founded and operate UHH are not doing it solely out of altruistic motives---look at the ads; it is a profitable endeavor, and thats terrific. Bless them, it a gold mine of valuable information regardless ones level of expertise in photography. But, forget civility, courtesy and such--would it not seem logical that, if for no better reason than that it is in their economic interest, to provide realistic Help when requested---rather than repeatedly brush off someone who has made a sensible and appropriate request for assistance? Sadly, with rank crudity, the opposite occurred and in my experience, more than once.

Unfortunately psychological research shows such simply isn't possible and that those who claim to not be subject to it are usually the worst.
