My wife noticed an increase in HB activity in our front yard over the last few days; so I took the opportunity to kick back, enjoy Labor Day weekend and attempt to photograph the little darlings.

Real nice shots.

These are gorgeous shots GBoy. We don't get HBs here but I'm flying into Texas next May for a trip of several months around the US. Will hummingbirds be there then?

It certainly is that time again. Beautiful shots of your hummers.

They are all beautiful but that first one is amazing. Soon crisp and clear and the red flower makes it "pop"

There have been hundreds of Hummingbird photos on the site lately. No 1 stands out in my eye as being one of the more memorable. I like the flower and the detail in the bird. Nice Photo.

I would certainly agree with this. I'm also partial to the soft pastel background in #3.

Nice shot Gboy. I really like the first shot. You stopped the wing action perfectly. Seems like I can never get a perfectly clear shot of the wings when they are flying even at higher shutter speed.

Thank you, these were taken at 1/2000 sec., but it's possible that the angle may have helped some, too.
