as far as dummies, would it not be better to say you have an entry, intermediate, or enthusiast level camera? no pun intended.

Excellent suggestion MWAC. Might I also suggest a Magic Lantern manual for your particular camera. Youtube is great, lots of tutorials. Happy shooting.

DOS for Enthusiasts? (Old computer book)

The "Dummy" thing is synonymous for a lot of book subjects, "for dummies" as a suffix.

I bought a dvd that eplains my camera. I looked at it once. I have to be honest and say that I just take thousands (literally) of pictures. I enjoy it and can see a lot of improvement from when I started a few years ago.

My Advise would be to take pictures utilizing the different settings.
Don't shoot subjects that you want to keep , but shoot anything so you concentrate on how to use the settings and not on the subject. Once you understand the settings, it is easier to apply them to the subjects you want to shoot. Also try this free website for tips and techniques. http://www.digital-photography-school.com
Enjoy your camera - Have Fun

Not that I push a particular store, but I noticed a DVD in Best Buy that was for a T3i. Also had one for a Nikon. About $25 I think.

I bought the same camera back in October and I am a total newbie to photography and I have been using lynda.com. It is a great site that shows you step by step what to do. They have videos on our camera that tells you exactly what each button does and when to use it. Very helpful. And once you get the camera down you can move on to the LightRoom or PhotoShop videos also very helpful.

Since I picked up this camera I can't seem to put it down. I am very happy with my purchase. I'm trying to shoot something everyday in various different light conditions so I can learn more about it. As you know to get the best pictures you will need to take it off of the Auto mode. I use the M mode mainly. When I use Auto it is to just look at the settings it choose and then put in manual (M) mode and then try to duplicate it and then compare images.

Hope you enjoy your camera as much as I do. Maybe one day I will upgrade to a full frame camera but right now I have no reason to.

Enjoy and Happy shooting.
