Merry Christmas to everyone..... I got a Canon Rebel T3i for Christmas (YEAH).............. But besides reading the manual ... any tips for online tutorials for it?????
I have had a point and shoot for so many years.... I know the very, very, very, basics on Shutter speed, Aperture, ISO..... but want to take advantage and learn as much as I can ............ I have had a camera of some kind in my hand since I was a child and got a "toy" one.... Thanks for any input.............

There's many subtle things about photography that dslr cameras allow you to take advantage of. Don't expect to be making "wonderful" photos over night because it doesn't happen that way.

Subtle things like walking on a scene, looking at the light, deciding what you want to do with your settings then setting them and shoot. At times I'm required to make those decisions on the spot, at times I have an advance look at the scene. Which ever those decisions will come quickly and naturally once you are familiar and comfortable with your gear.

Good luck. The t3i is an excellent camera and you'll enjoy it.

Do your self a huge favor and make this the first book you purchase on photography: (understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson)

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=understanding+exposure&hl=en&prmd=imvnsb&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1920&bih=887&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=12159470216999918688&sa=X&ei=0-P3TuKXLpLW2wXx5aWhAg&ved=0CGYQ8wIwAA

It breaks down the relationship between ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture in easy to read and understand english.

I would have to recommend this book. I used his book for my Canon T2i and learned how to use it pretty quick.

amazon.com or goi to favorite book store ( yes they still exist) and thumb thru a few.
What I do it take manual that comes with camera, make a pot of coffee, grab camera, read, touch , feel fondle camera until all the basics are intuitive, a lil coffee and a donut or two provide just the break yiou need after a chapter or two. GOOD LUCK enjoy the new box

IMHO, I would become very familiar with the camera controls beforing involving myself with the multitudes of book available. Understand what each and every dial does, refer to the manual that was packed with the camera.I would say, once YOU feel comfortable, move on.
Enjoyable photography, can be as simple, or complex as you make it. I, have personally found, that investing in all the guides and how to, and understanding books, to be a collasal waste of money,I know from buying these books for twenty five years. That big mysterious boogeyman, exposure, is not theoretical physics, it is simply the ratio of amount of light, how much strikes the sensor, and, the length of time.
Join a local camera club, do some in depth for online resources, find a brand specific website. For a few years I was on Nikon Cafe, and found more usefull information there, for free, than anywhere else.
Once again, IMHO, go online, save your money, and buy equipment, it is more fun anyway!

One of the best tips I came across was in a Blue Crane video about the T3i. They recommended printing the manual which comes in PDF format and in your print settings choose "fit to output" or something like that. It prints the manual out at 8.5 X 11 and is so much easier for my tired eyes to read. You have a wonderful camera there. Enjoy.

Dont forget to YouTube it. Many great how to videos there and you can go at your own pace. You just have to pick and choose some are hard to understand due to broken english.

Less than a year ago I went your route except my upgrade was to a T2i. I purchased the following for the T2i, but I notice the site now has a DVD for the t3i.
