I recommend you try Shutterfly. There are many options available, but one of those is the FREE ability to upload your photos and share them with others. Check it out here:

I use this site you have control on who gets to see your photos
it more secure than others and it is free.
You can place all your photos on the site, and send the link to your friends to look at

EsterP: Don't you have to create a folder in the DropBox window and name it, the drop and drag your photos to that folder? Then do what you said.

Hi,
Just returned from a trip through Alaska, (Barrow to Seward & all points in between). I was wondering what the Forum's thoughts might be the best way to share the photos with the group I traveled with.

Thanks,
The Doc

BTW, the trip was outstandingly awesome!

Post them on a hosting site and then email the link to your friends. Picasa Flickr Photobucket etc. There are many to choose from and all free.

I've actually put a single photo in there, right-clicked it and selected Share Dropbox Link, then pasted to a message and sent it. Works fine, so it doesn't appear that you need to make folders.

OK. I tried with myself and my son, and the small folder worked fine.

When you say sharing, do you mean just on screen online, or actually sharing the printed versions?

If you have a Google account, you can upload the images to Google, making it accessible via link and send everyone the link. They can download them from there, so if you want them to SEE only, this won't work.

I use Picasa. A couple of the others I tried cost to much and/or wouldn't let your friends download full size images. Picasa can be a PITA sometimes but it's cheap to use and your friends can see all your photos in a nice spread of thumbnails and download the full size image.

I use Shutterfly. They bought out Kodak. You have a variety of share options.
People can buy prints and have some of your photos that appeal to them blown up and framed.
You can indicate who can see your prints.

Not true, you can share the link and anyone who gets it can view the photos, no account needed. If you share the folder then yes, they do need an account. But as it's free and seems to be the preferred way, simple and easy, to share photos with select people, why not get an account.

I use Dropbox all the time to share links and folders. Good choice.

One option that might work, depending on the volume of photos you wish to share, is Dropbox. They offer free accounts up to 2 Mb, and the images are not posted publicly. If resized for web viewing, and zipped, that may be sufficient. The downside is that those you wish to share with have to have Dropbox as well.

Not just view the photos, but also download them to their own computer.
And neither party needs a dropbox account to do this.
