Hi,
Just returned from a trip through Alaska, (Barrow to Seward & all points in between). I was wondering what the Forum's thoughts might be onbest way to share the photos with the group I traveled with.

Thanks,
The Doc

BTW, the trip was outstandingly awesome!

If you use Picasa, just sync with the web, when it's done go to the web, then copy the Http/ and send that to who ever you want to see it. Remember to make it public.

I would load my pictures into a file in my computer and then create a second file inside the the first one. You could name the first file "Alaska Trip 2013" and the second one "For E-mail" I would then select the pictures I want to share and COPY them into the "For E-mail" file. At this point you can do whatever post processing you want on those pictures. Once you are happy with them you can attach the "For E-mail" file to a message you send to all people you have E-mail addresses for. I hope this was of some help.

Do you have an eMail account with Hotmail ? Due to most people can't receive over 10 meg files, it allows anyone to view large files, rather than sending a number of eMails. You can load up to 50 pictures/meg at a time to the photo site. More than that, send another eMail with 50 more. Then you can send the eMail to your friends. It will reference the site for them to access. They can view, download, save the pictures they want.

One option that might work, depending on the volume of photos you wish to share, is Dropbox. They offer free accounts up to 2 Mb, and the images are not posted publicly. If resized for web viewing, and zipped, that may be sufficient. The downside is that those you wish to share with have to have Dropbox as well.

Dropbox. Upload the images to dropbox, send people the link and they can download them to their computer.

EstherP, I have Dropbox, as do those I've used it with, so I never really examined if the person on the other end HAD to have Dropbox as well. If not, then it is an even better option than I first thought.

No, the other person does not have to have it. My brother oftens uploads pictures of his children and grandchildren to Dropbox, then send me the link to download. At least until a month ago. I now have my own Dropbox, and him and I have a shared folder. I sent the link to that folder to my sister, who does not have Dropbox, and she too, could easily download the images.
In fact, my sister and I used to share images via Dropbox, without either of us having a Dropbox account.

That's what I do. Just upload once, and send a link to the people. Simple.

I use dropbox for myself. How do I use it for other people?

After you install Dropbox on your computer, drag and drop files and/or folders into the Dropbox folder. After Dropbox finishes loading them (blue circle changes to green checkmark), right click on the file/folder you want to share, and select "Share" from the dropdown list - Dropbox will put a link on the clipboard.
Open a new e-mail, paste (Ctrl+V) that link, write an explanation with it (if you don't, many mail clients see a link without other text as junk an discard it), and send to your contact. They can now go to the link and DL the file/folder.
