I like the light/dark/light/dark pattern; I think the branch adds to it, being a beach; I would like it better without the runner.
Other than that-great shot!

Thanks amyinsparta, but the picture, to me, is about the runner
:)

My pardon! I'm one of those that don't like people in my shots. That's just me. So when I looked at it, I saw the beauty of the sea rather than the runner.

I like to photograph people in the wild, doing what they do naturally. This girl was putting in a lot of effort on a very bleak day. I hope that came over?

I think you managed that quite well!
Love the composition of this wide angle shot. Also perfect in black/white.

With the movement of the railing, beach, and pathway heading back towards a vanishing point and the movement of the runner in the opposite direction coming towards me, I find that the branch and people keep my attention moving around in that circle. That's just one of the things that keeps the viewer captivated. Definitely an image I'll want to keep coming back to.
It appears to be an ominous day for weather. Clouds hanging low and looks chilly, hence nearly empty beach. Yet she runs and working hard at it. A lot of tone depth in the b&w. Enjoyed this.

I like this. It has a pebblely grainy feel and the long lines of the handrail, horizon, sky and even the wood is pointing the right way. Light and darkness give an atmosphere to it too, almost like it was from film. It could have been a little empty if it were not for the running girl.
