Ahhhh, my absolute favorite bird !
Amazing shots ...the last run makes me want to run for some reason :!: :)
Ok, more trivia: Bald eagles are monogamous. Their talons are self locking and once they are engaged the eagle cannot release them. Bald eagles also swim well using their wings as paddles.[/quote]
I had no idea they were monogamous. Canada Geese are too. I knew about the talons, but had no idea they could swim! Very interesting. I should have read more about Eagles. We have a lot of them at Reelfoot Lake in the NW corner of Tn and across the state line at Ky Lake and I live close to both.

Incredible, amazing, absolutely fantastic - what else can one say. I would however like to see some in flight shots if you have them.
They are really great--so sharp. I love the details.
Magnificent photos of a magnificent bird. Thanks for sharing the photos and also for all the additional information you have shared in this thread.
Don't forget Clarksville, MO too.

A mated pair will also return to the same nest and add to it every year--some have been known to weigh a lot. A local TV station here said one weighed in at 1/2 a ton, but I'm not sure I believe that. We are currently having an influx of eagles at Lake Coeur D'Alene, ID for the kokanie (sp?) spawning.
I forgot to add how great your photos are, Ivan.

This is my topic #100 in two a half months of UH membership. The tally is 95 picture topics created with about 600 photos and 5 topics in the Forum. The line of my photos is not getting any shorter, will have to go for topic #200 I guess. Please bear with me....
Thanks for your support and kind words. Ivan.
Incredible shots! I'm new to UH and I'm sure you've been asked numerous times what camera/lens you use?
Canon PRO90 IS (only 2.6 mega), Minolta DiMage 7Hi, Panasonic FZ10, Panasonic FZ28, Sony R-1. All these are "bridge " cameras with built in lenses and EVF. Also Panasonic TZ3 and ZS7 pocket p&s and lately DSLR Canon T1i with 18-135 and 70-300. Out of about 600 photos posted here about 550 came from the "inferior" cameras including these eagle portraits. All my photos are taken at (P) auto setting, exposure compensated and bracketed. You can see all my posts by going to my profile and clicking on the list of topics created. Thanks, Ivan.

Ivan, thanks for answering my questions. That is amazing.
A very cool little piece of trivia regarding EAGLE EYES
And they can see a fish on the surface of water from about a mile away. During a dive eagles reach speed around 100mph and prefer to come from the sun like military pilots. On several occasions they dove over my shoulder and the finger feathers emit an eerie whistling sound. Thanks, Ivan.
