The bears I saw while 90 miles in the interior of Denali were very LARGE and very scary.
Yes,they are.And when you are 10` from them they look even bigger.Close eye contact turns your knees into jelly, you can see what is the animal thinking (and it is not pretty).
Welcome back, as a former eagle river residence i know first hand of the beauty that is Alaska.Your photos are truly magnificent.

When I left UH more than a year ago I did not expect to return. What I did not count on is a bunch of nice people missng my vision of Alaska.During the past year I have been getting many requests to return to UH and I just got tired of saying "no" over and over again. So here I am, a year older and not necessarily wiser.I intend to create at least one topic with minimum of three photos per week and to see how things go this time.In the past some of my topics disappeared from the radar almost immediately so if you do not want to miss any Alaska photos be sure to put me on your "buddy list" and check once a week my topics.
For those of you who joined UH after my departure: you can look up my previous topics by clicking on my nick and "topics created".There are 187 previous topics with over 1000 photos burried there.Thank you all who missed me, lets go to see a few Bald eagles..

Glad to see you back Ivan, your images are always the cream of the crop. No HDR, Raw. Layers etc. only true great photography. Hope to see some images of the wild Stikine River again and of course some Bears. Welcome back.
Nah, I do not sell any insurance. Just thing to say so simple a caveman can do it (sometimes). IMO photography should be fun. At leas for me it is. I spent a month in Fairbanks in 1961, wasn't cold enough so they shipped me to Thule, Greenland for a year. That is cold and only bears there are the white ones.

Ivan!!!!!! So good to see you back! I love all of your photos, and have from the first time I saw them. All very natural, and beautiful.....just as nature should be. I'm looking forward to seeing more.....I'm very fond of moose, but I love everything you do.
And I agree that there were a lot of some really annoying individuals at one point but most of them are gone. On the sad side, we've lost a lot of people I really admired. You are one I admired and I am very happy you are back!
:-)
Welcome back Ivan. Sure have missed your posts and the greatest bear shots my eyes have ever seen. You are a very good member and an excellent photographer. I for one am truly glad you seen fit to return. Keep them coming my friend.

I am always amazed at what a persistent photographer can do and you have got to be one of THE very very best at what you do. I have been trying for two years now just to get good enough to capture a bird in flight, ANY bird, and the fact that you have the bald eagles to play with...makes me jealous, frankly. But, maybe as soon as I get good at catching the wrens and cardinals I'll book a trip somewhere I can find wildlife like you have. I have acquired several cameras over the last year (I now own a Kodak, a Canon and a Nikon), but I am still happiest and make the best shots with my $35.00 Insignia
Welcome back. I am so happy you are here again. I look forward to your contributions and my vicarious visits to Alaska
Welcome home and GREAT shots!
Welcome back, Ivan! These are top-notch pictures! I don't think I've ever seen an eagle in flight! Fantastic!
Hi Ivan, got your IM and I am sooooo glad you are back. I have missed your avatar and your great shots. Welcome back my Friend! These are great as usual. Cheers.
