After reading all the posts up to this point, many of you are making good points, but it can all be explained much more easily; I think it's pretty clear that apart from his kookie avatar, Richard is a somewhat pompous, self-promoting lib-tard; he thinks the Democrats and liberals can run the country much better than the Republicans can; you like to do "research" Richard ? I suggest you do some "research" on Detroit, Michigan. The Dems have been "running" that shining example of liberal "how to" ever since I can remember, ( and I can remember "what's worked" and "what damn sure HASN'T worked", clear back to the 30's.)
Unless there's a huge Democrap "awakening", ( which is about as likely as a huge blizzard in August), the SAME "forces" that have turned Detroit into the U.S. equivalent of Beirut are already well along in repeating the SAME thing in Chicago. ( and please note how much "influence" Republicans have had on The Windy City lately.)
In other words, what you are saying is that all of Detroit's problems are due to Democrats.

Have you ever been to Detroit, Richard ? If you ever go there, ( I hope you will, so you won't have to take my word for it ), I'll tell you what you WON"T see........you won't see many blond haired, blue eyed Norwegians or Swedes, you won't see many Japanese, Chinese, Swiss, or Argentinians; and what you will almost NEVER see, is a young black kid who has a father who supports him, and teaches him right from wrong.
When you have a population where young girls are REWARDED every time they "pop out" yet another baby, whose "biological" father is yet another drug dealer, living in a city whose Mayor, and 80% of the local politicians are ALL democrats, who are ALL "competing" with each other to see who can steal the most...........it's not too hard to see which political party is mostly to blame.
Of course for a bright, highly educated, highly knowledgeable expert like yourself, whose main pursuits are "dreaming up" goofy avatars for professional "bodybuilders", all while speed reading thousands of extremely complicated scientific reports,.....in order to write a book (which I'm SURE will no doubt top the NYT "best seller" list for "books of useless information", and which will almost certainly be in contention for the Nobel Prize for Literature.........One can easily see why you may not be completely "on top" of "events" which have taken one of the countries biggest cities from being a thriving metropolis to being the countries biggest "slum". And yes, I think it's pretty obvious that the Democrats had an awful lot to do with the demise of the "motor city".

No Richard, you and your democratic faithful had help, lots of it. It came in the form of the 7 Sins. It came in the form of the most corrupt group of elected officials outside of Eastern Europe. Be sure to watch on Sept 3 when the former mayor is sentenced to pay for his excesses. Watch the next day as the former mayor's boyhood buddy gets sentenced for his virtues. These two maggots just happened to be kingpins in which political party? They didn't ride the coat tails of the Independent Party. Nope, it's your socialist thieves who seem to want to steal everything they can steal from America!
In other words, what you are saying is that all Detroit's problems were and are caused by Democrats, right ? Oh, excuse me, they only had "an awful lot to do" with the problems. There must have been other causes. Tell us what those could be.
It would be nice if in your ignorance you would cut the personal attacks and concentrate on the subjects we are talking about. Since you claim to know so much about Detroit, get specific about what problems brought the city down. Historically it is obvious, but I bet you haven't a clue.
And my goodness, aren't you the racist !
When someone like yourself attacks other races, but also people personally, it really makes one wonder what your problems are. Evidently you are very frustrated in major areas of your life. But go ahead, blather all you want.
My four published books haven't done badly.

What a joke you are Richard ! One minute you're trying to convince us that your "bodybuilder" "client" isn't a flamer, now you're bragging about how great your books are. And just as I accurately predicted, now you're accusing ME of being a racist ! You're starting to sound like you're reading out of the same play-book as your beloved "leader", The Obummer !
Are you trying to convince ME, or are you trying to convince YOURSELF of all of this nonsense?
If you are such a world-class "author", (and If I'm so terribly "ignorant"), then perhaps you can explain to all of us, poor ignorant people "out here", WHY a hugely successful, and obviously very wealthy literary mogul such as yourself, can afford to spend so much of your time, attempting to defend a bunch of thieves, like all of the thieves in the democratic party ? ( To a bunch of poor, pitiful schlumps on a public forum ) I would think that someone of your obvious self-importance would be running to NYC to "hang out" with Mayor Bloomberg.
BTW.........if your "published books" are so great, I'm surprised that you aren't showing us pictures of them, so we can SEE how great they are. I wonder if any of them have a picture of your famous "avatar man" with his legs spread apart on the cover ? I'll bet that would be a sensation in any gay bar ! ( Is that where they are "doing so well"?)
Gitzo, Your remarks are some of the most outspoken, racially-prejudiced remarks I have ever seen in this forum.

Man caused climate change does occur, it is probably a couple of percent of the overall temperature change effect. After all all used energy will always end up as heat in our environment one way. The only way to lower this effect is to reduce population. Anyone want to volunteer?
I read that Mars has been heating up too, must be we Earthlings are causing that too. We are guilty of all bad consequences.
Hey, Orindaman, just turn the airconditioning up and you'll be fine. You folks on the other side of the hills are just going to get hotter and hotter, but not to worry.

I put a Jacket on in the winter time and take it off in the summer time
This may very well be enough where you live (didn't check where before writing this) for the next few years. Does the jacket protect you from typhoons or rising water levels ? Or if you are not affected by rising water levels wherever you are, will this help the people in New York City stay high and dry ? Will it prevent Alameda, California from being inundated ?

It's a stupid idea to build cities so close to sea level as it is...Just because they are where they are, you feel that we should do something special to "protect" them ? They should relocate the cities to higher ground...Man can never hold nature back.

I live on the Gulf Coast. I still put a jacket on in the winter and take it off in the summer
As far as the so called "Global Warming" goes, I may have to change my view. Judging by how fast the ice melts in my beer cooler it might be true. Or it could be the fact I open and close the lid more often in my accelerated rate of consumption on weekends. Then again it could be the fact that it's frickin' July and that's a hotter than hell time frame Southeast of Disorder. I better call Al Gore to see if I can borrow some ice before the world ends.
The strongest advocates for doing something to protect the cities on the edge of the water are the people living there. I did not state we should do something to protect them. I said nothing of the kind. I did not state a position. Obviously you believe we should not.
