Hope this reply finds you in better spirits. If you are receiving therapy (I also hope you are) ask an Occupational Therapist for some compensatory strategies. They are specialist' in finding ways to maximizing your independence. WOOTTEE

I recently have had a stroke not one but three and now they are pretty sure that I have CNS Vasculitis, let us say not good. Well have you ever tried to take photos wobbling or with a cane and tripod. This picture is of my youngest dog and he can always make me laugh. I just need to vent I am trying to remember some of then things I learned early on and they are coming back slowly. Is there any one out there that has had a stroke and struggled returning to photography?
Thank you

i haven't had a stroke, but i have arthrites in my hands and knees. i can't stand without a cane and shoot the camera.my solution is a scooter, i either use a monopod or swivel the seat and use a tripod. my son helps me get the scooter in and out of the van.so far i have been able to go to alot of places and shoot away.
How did you take your Dog photo? Such action with perfect Focus...most Cameras do not focus that quick.
Great shot... remember the pros shoot hundreds of shots just to get a few good ones... you did it in one shot!

Hi SnapperLady. This is a great picture of your sweet dog. Good for you for not giving up. I've read all of the quotes and UH people are so nice and ready to help and there are some great suggestions. Keep laughing and taking photos.
A. Never, ever give up...just keep on clicking.
B. I love Chewie...great image...
I can't help from the experience of having a stroke, but no matter what the problem is, "NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER".
People who give up always suffer more. I can tell from your writing that you want to continue to live to the fullest.
You can do it !!! Good luck.
I have worked with people that have had "problems" crop up in their lives. I have found that there is always a solution.
One friend was using a med format Pentax and doing well until he lost his right arm. They don't make left handed cameras. The solution was to "rig" a remote shutter release and make it a left handed camera.
Another fellow had a stroke and his left side was effected. We took a portable IV stand with a 4 wheel base and mounted a tripod head on top. The wheels fold up, the pole extends/collapses and he can use it as a walker too. He doesn't do a lot of action shooting any more, but he has found other subjects just as interesting. His garden stills are magnificent.
Point is, there are solutions.
The best thing to do is get into a local photo club ... they can help a great deal.
Whatever you do, keep shooting !!!
Love the picture of Chewy! When you get frustrated, let Chewy help. Dogs are experts at this! I wish you wellness and continued good photography. You can do this!

Best of luck with your recovery ! I shoot pix of my jumping dog all the time and it is NOT easy to get as good a pix as you did - well done.
One thing you might want to look into with your doctor is water therapy. I'm currently using it for another problem but know that it does help those that have suffered a stroke.
Hope this helps.
Can't say I have, but you will be in my thoughts. I'm sorry and I hope you will have a fast and full recovery. I wish you all the best.
Greetings,
Stephan
Don't you dare give up! Chewie needs you to keep on snappin'. She's adorable by the way. I can relate in a way, my daughter is a nurse and has MS. She's a fighter and works every day. Has to give herself an injection every day but never ever complains. To add to her problems she lost her husband to cancer. She goes to the cemetery ever day can't get over the loss and it's been 5 years. So you just hang in there and keep taking those great photos. Things are going to get better you have a lot of us rooting for you!
