I recently have had a stroke not one but three and now they are pretty sure that I have CNS Vasculitis, let us say not good. Well have you ever tried to take photos wobbling or with a cane and tripod. This picture is of my youngest dog and he can always make me laugh. I just need to vent I am trying to remember some of then things I learned early on and they are coming back slowly. Is there any one out there that has had a stroke and struggled returning to photography?
Thank you

Best of Luck. Keep on Snapping. You might want to get a walker with a seat to support yourself as you shoot subjects. Not as challenging as your action shot of dog but still shots may provide the time to steady. Hope you keep the photos coming our way
Chewie looks like he's having a really good time inspite of everything going on around him. Prayfully, take it one day, minute, hour at a time, and you will find as I do, that things always turn out the way God intends it to be.. May God bless your efforts!!!!
What a very inspirational video, thank you for sharing.

Of course I don't know what your situation is but I do know someone who came back to normality after a stroke. It does happen.
For camera stability a wee bean bag, only 2/3 filled, fits under the lens of my camera in its holster. It can be folded under to make it firmer and will sit on almost anything with the camera nestled on top of it. An easy tripod to always have at hand.
I wish you well.

That is a mighty good shot of the dog. Good focus and stopped the action in mid-air.

Great shot SnapperLady. You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing. My best wishes for you. I'd like to see more of your pics.
I was totally paralyzed 4 years ago and thought I would never push a shutter button again. But photography was a big part of what brought me back mentally to where I am. I can function again to where I can get around, just not ski, climb and backpack to where most of my photos are from. So like he says, I wait for a lot of photos to come to me. Keep looking for those opportunities and never give up the thought that it will get better, then it probably will.

I don't get around very well either. It is amazing what photo ops come to me or close enough for me to get without a lot of trouble. It just gets better each time out. Don't give up.

Very sorry to hear about your physical ailment. Don't give up on photography because it will be letting the strokes win over your will to live life to the fullest.
Some suggestions would be:
Boost your shutter speed by pushing the ISO one notch higher. If you're shooting outdoors at ISO 100 move up to ISO 200. If you're shooting ISO 200 try ISO 400 to see if you can still get a tight aperture that will give a proper exposure.
Definitely use your camera's image stabilization if it has it.
As has already been said, use a wireless remote (several are available on eBay for less than $10) instead of touching the camera during shutter release.
Consider an inexpensive mono-pod when you don't want to carry a full tripod because it can double as a cane when you walk.
Try to find a solid object to lean yourself against while shooting or something to sit on for a shot like your young best friend that you posted.
Consider replacing your current tripod with a very lightweight aluminum or carbon fiber one that has 4-segment legs. It would be much easier to carry and folds up very small. You may even be able to rig up a couple clips on your cane to attach it to so you don't have to carry the tripod separately.
Otherwise hang onto a positive attitude. You are still the same person inside and have much to accomplish, like capturing the world as you see it in photographic compositions.

Remember Beethoven was deaf and still wrote great music. If you can shoot a picture of Chewie like you posted, you can do anything. Your great attitude is all you need. Keep shooting and posting.
