I just saw some of the specs of the sony, if you do any sports photography for fast motion shooting, keep it. 12fps???? amazing..my d7100 is half that. wait and get the D800e full frame. I bought the 7100 and although it is amazing compared to my D90, I wish I would have saved a bit longer and bought the full frame.

Winter, the last time I took my hands out of that nice, warm dishwater, it scared the living daylights out of me. Plus the skirt keeps my knees warm. And the feel of that sheerness next to my delicate parts, ahhhhhh. !! SS

I have seen photographs of swallows taken with the a77 and nothing would make me change, but i am quite certain you had made your mind up way before you posted your question, the sensible thing to do is sell your other cameras and equipment
and buy good glass for the a77 or sell it and take a step down.

Hi Fellow Hogs
Since getting my D5100 the Sony has sat unused and unloved in the corner of my cabinet.

1977, this can be beat to death with opinions.
I think you have answered your own question. You already prefer the Nikon to the Sony. Get the camera you want, even if it's only psychological.
And DO sell the old ones while somebody will still pay you for them. In a few more years they will be little more than perfectly functioning paper weights.
If the Sony lenses are any good, you should loose very little selling them, especially if they are not kit lenses, since used Sony stuff is virtually non existant, since so few use it.
I have no old bodies laying around. I get rid of them while people are still clambering for them.
Good luck with your choices. SS

Hi Fellow Hogs

I have a bit of a dilemma, albeit a quite nice dilemma, but a dilemma nonetheless. I have been offered a good part ex deal on a brand new Nikon D7000 that would see me sacrificing my Sony A77 Body and I'm not sure whether to do it or not. I have already been to snapsort and the Winner was the D7000 by a couple of points, and the D7000 is the Dx Format camera I have wanted for a while, am just not sure about sacrificing the sony. Since getting my D5100 the Sony has sat unused and unloved in the corner of my cabinet. so the choice is take it out and start using it or get shot for a shiny new D7000 without the EVF that I rather dislike on the Sony :D
Am just after a show of hands really in terms of who would stick with the A77 and who would take the D7000, many thanks in advance guys

I have no experience with the Sony, but if it sits unloved in the corner now because you prefer the D5100 over it, sounds like a no brainer... The D7000 is worlds better

I agree. You can share lenses between the D5100 and D7000. I will often take my D3100 with one lens, and my D90 with another lens so I do not have to change lenses.

It's sounds like you answered your own dilemma. The D7000 is a great camera.

After spending a couple of days getting reacquainted with the A77 i have decided to keep the A77 after all and get the D7000 in a month or so. I think my problem in general was that I had abandoned the A77 in favour of the D5100 and really grew fond of the Nikon. I think all the time it is possible for me to Juggle things around financially and keep both brands I will but in the long run if it came down to getting rid of one brand to keep the other currently the nikons would edge slightly out over the sonys :D
thanks for all your input guys

Personally I'm a Sony fan and if you were in the U.S. I'd offer to buy your A77 because I'm looking for a second Sony body from A65 on up. A D7000 would probably get more use by you because you prefer your D5100 over the Sony so it seems to be a wise investment in your situation. Why keep a Sony with EVF around if you don't like that? Sonys need lovin' too... :-)
