Update on this thread: Holy cow! Five pages? Ok, I did sell the D5000 and got a T3i and what for? Returned it in five days. Now, the dilemna is: Nikon again? D7100 when I get smarted with $$ or Canon 7D and then what about the new 70D?
Madness I say! I can read the LCD best on Canon bodies, but am not a "Rebel" king of guy after all.
Love the 8fps on the 7D,but could 'live' with the 6fps on D7100 and 70D.

I've got an inkling what I will get for my 60th birthday in September...but ?
Need a nice rig for my photo-safari to ? Savannah?

Anyway, what to do with my Nikon D5000?
Have a wonderful weekend!

Steven, shoot it out of your Cannon !!
Maybe those do-gooders that think you should move up, are willing to give you the bucks to do so. SS

How serious can a camera with the name Rebel be ?

Yeah... I always thought "The Canon Pirate" would have made a better name for this line.

We that's some background. I got photo of the day with the local paper and was super cooper thrilled! Feels good to know some one loved the shot. It was with a T2i entry level camera with a rookie at the shutter. Sooooooo lucky I was!

dosen't look like a rookie lens on your avatar :-D

I shouldn't be giving this secret away, but I will. When you buy a Nikon camera, you get a little booklet explaining camera courtesy. It cautions us not to act superior around non-Nikon owners because they already feel bad enough for having made the wrong choice. Bragging about our cameras is just rubbing salt in the wound. As in all things, quantity does not equate with quality.

I was told one time that my lens was only good for a boat anchor...I believe I have better pictures than that $8000 lens he had and bragged about. I don't pay any attention to the high dollar guys anyway. I am a hobbyist, not a semi pro like he thinks he is.

I have seen some pretty good anchors, even if they were Nikons. LOL! On occasion they even take a good photo, if the person behind the lens knows what he is doing.

Just a good example of knowing where to spend your money, on good glass, not a camera body.
