all you really need now is someone to drive you home at the end if the evening. someone to follow you around and stuff a sock in your mouth, every time you look like you're going to say something stupid.

If you are like me, unless you have photographed it, you haven't seen it--but, remember someone can not pay attention to two photographers at the same time--and there is a real potential to prove it in what you plan to do.

I know if it was me it would be hard to focus with the tears in my eyes see my little girl starting her own life. Leave it all at home and enjoy the day, it will go fast and you want to remember the smile and joy with her new husband.

Have fun!!

And yes, a photographer has been hired. I don't want to sound insecure, but I just thought to be sure everything is covered, I'll take my d7000 with the 18-200 lens. My wife will take her d40 with her 18-270 Tamron. I think I'll let the grandson take the d5000 with the 18-55 and the granddaughter can use the d70 with the 28-85. Do you think I left anything out?

do you have a youngster to give a camcorder? that could be HOOT to watch with an adult beverage

Definitely leave your camera home. However, make a list
of who you want photos of. Although they're the professionals - they do not know the family dynamics and
cannot differentiate a close relative vs. a work associate. The professionals are only as good as your
directive.

As much as I love photography and feel your passion, I think would be best to leave the gear (perhaps) in the car. May be just take a few photos and leave the rest to the hired Pro. After all, you gotta have fun, mingle and ensure you are present in the family photos taken at the wedding. After all you are family. Cheers Mate

I was just to a niece's wedding. They specifically asked that ALL cameras, including cell phones be TURNED OFF at the ceremony.
That encourages everyone to be THERE for the couple, not worrying about getting THEIR shot. That's what the paid photog is for.

Well.....Without a PICTURE of that, how were we supposed to know?
Too many hogs would do just what you posted first.

From the first couple of posts, it appeared that I sounded like I was bragging, so I added the disclaimer. My wife did remind me a couple of times that I was not the photographer in this case, so let it go.
Now that it is over, I have some ideas that I have always wanted to try, and I think I'll get my daughter to dress up again, and we'll go out in the desert and shoot. She might even be up for that.
