Can't the IPAD through icloud transfer the data to the IMAC???

Isn't that supposed to be automatic? From what I've heard, that automatic iCloud doesn't work very well.

It's terrific between my 2 macbooks. I use it for the address book and calendar.

So you can enter events or addresses on one, and it coordinates with the other? I'll have to try that.

Stay away from the iCloud Jerry. All that iRain in the iCloud is not good for electronic devices.

I use Google Calendar to keep track of appointments. When I enter an event on my computer, I can access the calendar from another computer. I can even access it from the Apple calendar on my iPad and the calendar on my Droid phone. So, why can't I access it on my iMac? It has the same calendar that's on the iPad, but no events show up. The iMac has CalDAV, whatever that is. I have a choice of Home and Work, and both are checked. I didn't see any choices that would let me access the info on the iMac.

The simple solution is to send me the IMac...that will sync all your devices.

Drop the Droid phone and get the iPhone. All problems solved. Besides its a better phone and you are all MAC except that anyway. My calendar has no problem syncing between laptop, iPad and iPhone. We even share a business calendar and all iPhones MacBooks and iPads stay in sync. Kind of funny when she adds something to the calendar my phone, my macbook, her MacBook all chirps within a sec of each other.

How can I keep all my professional photography appointments coordinated among my various electronic devices if one of them does not match up with the others? As I said a year ago, I plan to go professional (maybe tomorrow), and I'll need a good calendar system. I don't want to make the move until I have all the bits and pieces in place. I have all the DSLRs Nikon makes and a little over half their lenses. I figure if I get the rest of the lenses tomorrow, I'll be ready to turn pro. With good cameras and lenses you can shoot like a pro, right?

Will I need a flash?

I believe that Mobile Me is a thing of the past, and has been replaced by iCloud. I'm pretty sure that the ability to use iCloud is part of all the recent OS upgrades from apple on iPad, iPhone, iMac, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, etc. So if your iMac doesn't have Mountain Lion, upgrade. Or wait for the next iteration of the OS coming in the fall.

Your call either way. P.S. Was your camera free? Is Adobe Free? Not everything of value is free, including Google Apps. We just haven't gotten the bill yet whereas Adobe has now delivered the bill to all us that is part of a monopoly.

Must my $0.02

Jerry,

So what was your photography related question?

Wonderful, so I'm not the only one wondering about relevance of posts to this forum's topic.
Thank you!

I use calendar on my Mac Pro and my IPhone through ICloud--no problems with sync. Everything shows in both places and give me notice of event as I have selected when I input.

Jerry,
I use Apple Contacts and Calendar and they sync between my iPad and MacBook Pro seamlessly. I will check to see if they sync with my Windows computers, although I really don't any desire to have them do so. Cross-platform operations have always resulted in difficulties for me (with the exception of Pages and Numbers which convert back and forth with Word and Excel with no problems except that I have an occasional need to switch an incompatible font).
