Great pics I love number 1 keep them coming and welcome to UHH
Thanks. And the pictures will keep coming :-)
those are the settings I would have used.
the only other thing that I would try is to crop #2 and try to get rid of some of the people on the side. The guy with the bird could fill up the image.
Nice work.

To crop tight to the gentleman would have made the picture into something I was not trying to achieve. I was there to capture the environment and atmosphere of the poultry sale.
Welcome to UHH, like your shots. You'll get good feedback from people here, keep posting!!!

Thanks for the welcome. I'll certainly keep posting.
Feedback? I don't mind if it's good or bad as long as it's fair :-)

These are terrific, but you've left us wanting more.
#1 is perfect to me. #2 I would have cropped a little tighter but you have already stated this was not what you wanted in your image. TNmike

My eyes keep going back to the first photo. Great capture that tells a story
I absolutely love the first, but the second creeps me out a little. May just be the subject matter. That's just me.

You love the first one and the second shot evoked emotion. What more could I ask for.
Thanks

Well done, Graham! I especially like the drama of the b&w shot. Very well composed; nice balance, and great detail. Wished I had've been there to take a few myself!

#2 shows auctioneer, gallery and what the lot being sold consists of. each lot can take as little as 20 seconds to sell and go to next lot. this appears to be the poultry barn. at the auction i worked at one day a week for 11 years we had poultry barn, hog barn, egg auction, and livestock auction, consisting of goats, sheep, veal and feeder calves, bulls steers and cows. we started receiving at 7am started selling 12 noon with eggs and poultry then hogs and livestock after that. sometimes auction went til 7 pm. then sort and ship, then clean up. most nights went to midnight. long day. the stories i could tell would make your hair stand up. left in 1973, went to industry, paid more.
