LOL. Only problem is, there's a big difference between a pelican and a penguin. Nice try, though.

You just made my day. Thanks
BTW, Thanks for the compliment. I'm still laughing over your solution. Bet if I had a fish to give him, he just might have done it for me.

The difference between a pelican and a penguin?........... 8,000 miles, and that is a big difference.

Not so far when you live close to Sea World. Closer to about 8 - 10 miles.

I live closer to Palm Springs. There's some rare birds there but I haven't seen a Penguin yet!

My guess would be, due to the metal band, that this pelican was one of the ones rescued and relocated after the April 2010 Gulf oil spill. He's alive and well and looks quite healthy. This was taken in Oak Hill.

I like the 3rd one a picture should tell a store to me this does I like the blurd back ground so when you see the pelican that all you see Mike75.

I may be wrong, but the Pelicans from the oil spill had color coded bands as well. The link below has more info. http://www.flickr.com/photos/leaders/4842594574/

There is a website to report spotting banded birds - it's http://www.reportband.gov/

Wonderful shots of the pelican. Keep shooting and posting. :)

Thanks for sharing. There are no pelicans in Idaho and these shots seem so much more personal than something from National Geographic. That may be one of the best things about Hedgehog -- the fact that friends can share photos with other kindred spirits.

Thank you all, for your comments and kind words. Thank you gwong1 for the web site. It's one that I had seen. Mahma, thank you for the link for reporting banded birds. I actually ran across this site last night but because I couldn't give a full idenity to the numbers on the band, I sent them the first two pictures and location in hopes that they could tell me something. so far,I haven't heard from them. NOw that I know that the ones from the Gulf area have colored bands, I still hold hopes of hearing something regarding his capture/rescue. Will let everyone know if I find out anything.

I quite agree with you about sharing photos with others of like minds. There is so much joy in seeing something of beauty and trying to capture a lasting memory of it in a picture and then sharing it with others.
