My guess would be, due to the metal band, that this pelican was one of the ones rescued and relocated after the April 2010 Gulf oil spill. He's alive and well and looks quite healthy. This was taken in Oak Hill.
nice shots except camper trailer in background
Thanks. A differnt backgraound would have been nice, but didn't have much choice of a background as we were fishing from a dock.

if you edit could clone trees over it
IMHO, #'s 1&2 are just snapshots but #3 is art. I really like #3!

Thank you for your humble opinion. I'm glad to hear that you like #3. I actually agree with you that 1&2 are only of snapshot value. I posted them in hope that just maybe someone on this forum was part of the rescue team that work so hard to save our beautiful birds and animals affected by the oil spill and would be happy to see that this one was alive and well. I've googled the oil spill trying to find a contact #or person, but haven't had any luck so far. I have lots of bird pictrues and will be looking closely at them to see if there are any more that are wearing the bands. Thank you again for your comment. I appreciate your reply.
dirtpusher Thank you for the suggestion. I will give it a try to see what I can come up with.
Thank you MissStephie. Just wished he had landed on the railing facing the open water instead of behind me. I just happy to see this one survived when so many didn't.

Irene personally i ask myself do i really want to or should i edit an just accept what nature gave me an hope for anther shot down the road. i have several similar situations i have edited but i never saved any of them afterwards one was a sunset i shot after coming out a convience store at end of a shooting road trip. it has a street light an gas price sign in it. finnaly decided leave it be cause it was the moment.

I know what you mean. I have lots of pictures, both good and bad (mostly bad) that I keep just because they record a memory of the moment. Time permitting, I will probably give it a try, just to see what I can come up with. I've even given thought to totally changing the background. I will definitely be keeping the original. It was one of those moments of surprise. I had turned around to get more bait and there he sat, not more than 3 or 4 feet from me. I always have a camera with me whenever we go fishing in hopes of getting that one great or unusual shot. He was a little antsy but sat there, turning his head one way and then another, as if he was posing.
an posing that he is an proud of his self. an good luck
