"Most people" probably shouldn't have a camera either... ha ha.

Here's a review from Lisa Snider

http://www.macworld.com/article/2041626/review-photoshop-cc-struts-its-actions-filters-and-enlargements-but-leaves-bridge-in-limbo.html.

I have also heard that Adobe will be having a 9.95 subscription just for Photoshop. Hasn't been confirmed yet.

How so? I havent looked at the upgrade yet. Does it do layers, jdr, panorama or composite capability? Thats why I have PSE & LR4 together.

I upgraded to Photoshop CC yesterday. So far I've used the new Camera Shake feature and the new Smart Sharpening feature. Both were very impressive. I used the Camera shake feature on a night portrait that was take hand held and it saved the image. The improved Smart Sharpening too did a great job of sharpening some images without adding a lot of noise.

I did have problems with the upgrade. It would not install the upgraded Adobe Application Manager properly which, in turn, is used to download the Photoshop CC. An Adobe Technician spent over an hour getting it to install properly.

I live in the UK and the price here is around $70, so I don't think I'll bother. I'm thinking that Adobe may have made a big mistake with the CC version. Time will tell.

Just a reminder to everyone. When you buy software always buy the CD version. That is the best way to be sure you have a Backup that works.
Remember, Clouds also make rain.

No pano or HDR, and I haven't heard anything about layers or Composites.

During a recent denial of service of 6 days my web hosting "service" experienced. I would say that not only does the Cloud give rain, it also has droughts. I was able to use my copy of PS 5 without interruption, however, because it is resident and not Cloud-like. I note Creative Cloud being offered as a banner on this page for "just" $20/month! LOL All it would take is a missed deadline because you couldn't get to the Cloud and the loss of an important client for you to encourage some other programmers to come forward with a competitor to PS.

I like being up to date on my software. I can afford $19.99 per month for my photography.

I like to learn more about everything.

I use CS, LR and plan do do more with movies and websites.

Everyone is different and I do not understand why so many try to decide things for everyone else.

Freedom to choose what you want is what should be the goal.

I'm in the same boat as you are being retired on a fixed annuity. even if I just won that last powerball lottery, I would certainly NOT spend that $50 a month on the cloud. I was shocked to hear that.
Thanks for the heads up

During a recent denial of service of 6 days my web... (show quote)

When you subscribe to CC, you download the program, so the web should be irrelevant.

Photoshop CC is not a true cloud application. The programs reside on your computer as before. Updates are downloaded on regular basis throughout the year and the service includes 20 GB of cloud storage for your images if you want to take advantage of it. Adobe moved to the CC version to try to eliminate the pirating of their software and to increase revenues.

To compare costs, if you regularly upgraded to the newest version in the past you paid about $200 each 18 months. With Photoshop CC, you will pay $20 per month or $360 for 18 months after the special $10 per month introductory period for the first year expires. This represents at least a 80% increase in price - more if you did not upgrade to the newest version on a regular basis.

I use many features of Photoshop that are not available else ware so, although I am not happy with the price increase, I upgraded to the CC version.

I have updated and using the subscription. It makes it much easier. I can budget and take off taxes as an expense. I have the newest at my finger tips and any tool I need when I need it without searching the web for a free version which might / or might not get the job done. Post processing is just as important to me as good glass so we have to pay the price. People have been claiming how expensive photoshop is here is a way to afford it. ( you might just have to cut back on your trips to dunkins or starbucks)

I think Adobe's move to the cloud increased sales of Cs6. I felt like it was a last chance to "own" photoshop. If they change their policy in the future I will upgrade. In the mean time I think we are all waiting for the next genius to creat an alternative.

I certainly wish someone would come out with a competitive product. A friend of mine just moved his studio. Yeah, I helped to shorten his down time. He's purchased the last three versions, extended ones at that.

After a few days in the new place, boxes of stuff are still needing to be unpacked, his PP system bites the dust. No loss of images, as he follows a very well planned backup scheme. Now, he asks me to help him re-install CS6 extended. No problem. Until trying to figure out which of several boxes, each containing several hundred CDs each might contain the install disk.

No problem, just go on Adobe's site and download CS6 extended. That seems to be an impossibility. It's all cloud now. So, after spending several thousands of dollars purchasing software from this company, he still has to pay to continue using the software after this issue with a hard drive.

He does not have the time to spend looking though boxes to find the install, he has the license numbers of ever piece of software he uses, but Adobe is the only one through which we can't download an old, paid for, application. Talk about being miffed. He has work to do for clients and can't afford to spend days looking for the install disk we made from the downloaded software some time ago.

If everything wasn't so geared toward photoshop, I'm sure he'd be using some different application from this day forth. Fortunately, he has a way to PP, but on a strange machine with a different layout than his customized familiar one. There are somethings that a company can do that really irritate their customers.
