yeah that is all I really wanted to know..seemed strange that they would put one battery in the actual camera and one in the grip when it is so much easier just to keep both in the grip for easy access and charging..I have a grip on my Canon and it also extends into the battery cavity of the camera..making it easy to remove for charging....anyway..I feel so naked without it on my new Nikon so will be purchasing as soon as possible..lol..and for the extra battery life or couse.. :)...thanks everyone for responding!...cheers!.. :-)

Just to finally clarify, the D7100 grip carries either one EN-EL15 type battery which is the same as the EOM unit in your camera mounted in a drawer in the grip, or in a separate drawer (supplied) which carries six AA batteries as an alternative power source in an emergency.

The camera battery can, or not, remain fitted in the camera body.

The camera allows the user to select the order in which power is drawn from the respective batteries via the menu.

Either battery must be removed in order to facilitate recharging.

Look forward to more comfortable and manageable operation, however, although I have not personally tested the continuous frame rate in Ch release mode , I use a D3, which runs up to 11 fps, for sports or action, it has been reported that the extra battery does not appreciably increase it.

Cheers, Rob.

As long as I can put both camera batteries in the grip and not in the camera body with grip on that is all that matters..the fps is just a bonus but not really necessary for me..just sounded good lol.. but the grip is all I needed to know about..when I heard that I might have to remove the grip every time I have to charge was a little scary to me..and strange lol..was thinking why would Nikon allow that design flaw..lol..anyway look forward to getting it soon...thanks everyone!.. :)
