Maternity Photo Shoot ... it takes more than book learning to succeed...
I am long on portrait-taking head knowledge (you should see my collection of photography books!). And short, very short, on experience (as in zero), with actually doing a photo shoot. But I finally got my chance! Of course in my excitement much of what I thought I had learned, fell right out of my head
My victims were shy, sweet, patient and just a month from delivering their first child after ten years of marriage. To further complicate matters, I'm not only inexperienced, but the mom and the mom-in-law :) We did have fun and I learned a ton about camera settings, directing, posing, lighting and improvising! I welcome critiques, especially from photographers with portrait taking experience.

Ah yes, I do remember those days|
First Congratulations Grandma! Love the booty shot. I like the one in black and white, but feel it is cropped a bit too tight. The natural light hitting her face is so pretty.
Wow Kerry, these were worth waiting for. You had some interesting ideas here. I do wish you had more from the beach because the light/colouring was wonderful there.. Love the reflection and the stones in the water. They look so happy and you caught that. And the fun booty shot was clever. Some may be a little sunny/bright but it highlights her smile and their joy. Love them, you did well and I bet, like me you were a little scared. Look forward to the baby shots, in a months time. Well done.

Some great poses...good job for the most part!!
Hi Kerry,
I like some of your poses! Unfortunately some of your shots were are overexposed, or the skin tones are off. The skin tones can be pretty easy to fix in post.
I worked on one of the overexposed photos if you would like to see it. :)

Wendy, I'd love to see what you've done. Thanks! I'm still playing with these and will revisit the skin tones and any other suggestions you have.

Thank you Country Mama. I appreciate your comment about the cropping - will loosen it up a bit.

By the way, congrats!!!!! Are you his or her mom? Do you have any other grandchildren?
I just worked on the one in the doorway. It is not perfect but a little better.

Thank you Karenn. There are more beach shots - their feet got so cold, it started freezing their smiles and I didn't want to push my luck or I might not get another go around;)

Wendy, you are a pro! Love your version. I'm her mom - this is their first child, but our third grand. They've asked me to be present with camera for the birth and subsequent newborn shoot - so my portfolio will be growing :)
