I would show you the photos of my orbital death ray with which I and SPECTRE will take over the world but she isn't quite ready yet. among my other interests besides world domination include civil war memorabillia and books, Also collecting police, fire and ems patches. the first photo shows a copy of Lee's Liuetanints perhaps the finest book on leaders and leadership written.on the cover i have put a couple of minne balls, the rounds used by both sides. below is a recovered saddle bag buckle and a reciever to a musket or rifle recovered in the Kennasaw georgia area. The next couple of photos are just a few of the over 200 patches in my collection, laid out over my police t shirt. lets see photos of your other hobbies.

Being a gold miner most of my life, I still like roaming the hills with a dry-washer and pan looking for little bits of the yellow stuff. Never enough to be worthwhile, but fun to get out and explore.

I'm a history nut and read voraciously, especially about the era of the Mexican Revolution of 1910 and WWI. "La Revoluciòn" was one NASTY war with more than twenty million deaths, but it's never mentioned in our schools so most people in this country have never heard of it. It brought out the best and (mostly) the worst in lots of people, and even a German plot to invade the US from the south. There were no real heroes but Madero and Zapata come close. The list of villians is MUCH longer, including Huerta, Villa, and Diaz, with Carranza and Obregòn somewhere in between. Some, like Rodolfo Fierro just enjoyed killing people and would have made Himmler proud.

I enjoy shooting, especially black powder. Fifteen seconds to shoot and fifteen minutes to reload. Makes me wonder how the pioneers ever survived.

I loved seeing the photo of Poncho Villa, my dad in his youth was in the Army that would chase that bandit back across the border on Horse back .
I only wish i had written things down as a child to be able to pass on to my kids and Great Grand kids.
Thanks for the Memories.

I enjoy investigating the paranormal. My team recently was the first team to receive a federal permit to do an after hours/overnight investigation of Wilson's Creek National Battlefield and the Historic Ray House, which was used as a confederate hospital during and after the battle. I also enjoy traveling and have a new book coming out in March 2012 on the Haunted Natchez Trace. I am currently writing another on the Haunted Mississippi Gulf Coast that is due to be published in June 2012.

Congratulations on all 3 accounts! The paranormal interests me. When I moved into my house I knew the gentleman that owned it before me had passed away in the kitchen. For years after, I would periodically smell cigarette smoke (no one smokes in my house but he did) and I had to take my door bells down because they would ring at all hours and absolutely no one would be there. It was very creepy!

I have tons of photos gleaned from the National Archives website, old books, digitized books, etc. I try to grab every photo I can find of the Revolution. "Pancho" is a nickname for Francisco, like we have "Bob" for Robert. But his real name was José Doroteo Arango Arámbula, though there are differences of opinion about the exact name and spelling. He was an Indian peasant so there are no actual records of his birth. Heck, I'd change my name and be mean, too, if my mother named me "Dorothy" (very loosely translated).

I also like cooking/smoking/bbq and making movies. Here is an older version of bacon explosion. Warning, just watching video can harden arteries.

twowindsbear AND John339,
Since there are no military or merchant marine listening stations for Morse Code anymore, do they still make HAM operators learn and test proficiency on your licenses?
Just curious.....

I love too many things. I started drawing and painting at 4, had my first camera at 8, first dark room at 10, loved horse since I was 3, love flowers, parrots, aquariums and gourmet cooking, play the organ and taught ballroom dancing for several years. I studied Interior design years ago and still love decorating!
I did wall murals for 35 years and have retired from that before I kill myself climbing on a ladder. I have hand painted (then scanned and printed) greeting cards since 1993 and sell tons of them at Christmas time in all 50 states and 5 other countries. I can still break a horse (though I am a lacey kind of southern lady) and ride a big blue roan that I still have to get on a ladder to get in the saddle. I'd say painting and riding are my favorites. With all I love to do, housework is at the bottom of my list of favs. before we married, I told my hubby "I can EITHER be a great lover or a great housekeeper." He said "forget the house". WELL, long answer. Sorry you asked?

OK, I went back and watched the bacon explosion. We owned a sausage plant for 26 years, but I never liked sausage (couldn't tell anybody that), but it does look good and my son will love it. Gotta send it to him!!!

Thanks for posting!! That's a great photo and a great heirloom, I'm sure. Was he in World War I?

The uniforms of that era were not high fashion, but I think they were pretty cool! The period from the Spanish American War through the 1930's was the "golden age" of the US Army, in my opinion. Here's one from the defenders of the 1915 Mexican raids across our southern border.

I always got enjoyment out of woodworking. It was a good relaxation from being a Paramedic. Then when I would get the time I would go out and shoot Skeet and Trap. That would go along with fishing.
