we hogers seem to be a very talented bunch. I was wondering what other hobbies y'all might have.post photos of your other hobbies. The following photos are of some of my other interests. I would show you the photos of my orbital death ray with which I and SPECTRE will take over the world but she isn't quite ready yet. among my other interests besides world domination include civil war memorabillia and books, Also collecting police, fire and ems patches. the first photo shows a copy of Lee's Liuetanints perhaps the finest book on leaders and leadership written.on the cover i have put a couple of minne balls, the rounds used by both sides. below is a recovered saddle bag buckle and a reciever to a musket or rifle recovered in the Kennasaw georgia area. The next couple of photos are just a few of the over 200 patches in my collection, laid out over my police t shirt. lets see photos of your other hobbies.

Being a gold miner most of my life, I still like roaming the hills with a dry-washer and pan looking for little bits of the yellow stuff. Never enough to be worthwhile, but fun to get out and explore.

I'm a history nut and read voraciously, especially about the era of the Mexican Revolution of 1910 and WWI. "La Revoluciòn" was one NASTY war with more than twenty million deaths, but it's never mentioned in our schools so most people in this country have never heard of it. It brought out the best and (mostly) the worst in lots of people, and even a German plot to invade the US from the south. There were no real heroes but Madero and Zapata come close. The list of villians is MUCH longer, including Huerta, Villa, and Diaz, with Carranza and Obregòn somewhere in between. Some, like Rodolfo Fierro just enjoyed killing people and would have made Himmler proud.

I enjoy shooting, especially black powder. Fifteen seconds to shoot and fifteen minutes to reload. Makes me wonder how the pioneers ever survived.

I enjoy investigating the paranormal. My team recently was the first team to receive a federal permit to do an after hours/overnight investigation of Wilson's Creek National Battlefield and the Historic Ray House, which was used as a confederate hospital during and after the battle. I also enjoy traveling and have a new book coming out in March 2012 on the Haunted Natchez Trace. I am currently writing another on the Haunted Mississippi Gulf Coast that is due to be published in June 2012.

Not sure if it counts as a Hobby or a Vice....
I love the rituals and the social aspects of cigar smoking.
(Thanks to my cigar afficianado, WWI vet grandfather)

thanks for all the responses! what a wide variety of interests. i love history but must admit my knowledge in the various mexican revolutions is sorely lacking.I do know that among the american soilders who went south to mexico to stop pancho villa was one Lt George Patton, who actualy got into a shoot out cowboy style with some of villa's men. I too love cigars but at this time cant afford them. love maduro wrappers, churchill sized. among my favs are hoya de monterry excaliburs, partagas black label and baccarat. I love artuereo fuentes opus xx but not the $20+ per cigar price if you can find em.

I am a robusto sized guy myself. I've had a couple of Opus XX and they are a bit over priced and maybe a bit over rated. I understand your predicament...after a 6 month "interruption of work", I have had to put a couple of "hobbies" on hold for a bit.
Merry Christmas S-Man

My grandfather always had 3 of the Italian Parodi's (crooked little cigars) stuck in his shirt pocket. I agree with your take on "Cubans". My last contract was for ICE and I was flying in and out of Central and South America weekly. Since the embargo act says its illegal for US citizens to smoke Cuban cigars, even in countries where they are legal... I've only heard ;-) that they are nothing to write home about.
Plus, all the premium cigars out there are grown from smuggled out Cuban seed....rolled by expatriate Cubans...and sold by Cuban emigree brokers....duh! That says Cuban to me!
