I know you disagree, but your disagreement doesn't make the argument valid.

Explain clearly and simply why the design of an item changes the basis for banning it if it's used to kill people.

Seriously??? You're one crazy dude

Ya, like criminals are going to abide by gun control. Get it through your head, you can't legislate evil.

rpavich your argument is specious. what is called for is universal background checks regardless of how the gun is acquired. Why not? Gun store owners have to check out the person who is buying a gun!

Don't give the argument that the system does not work. Fund it and it will work.

You all present the argument of the young man who shot his parents and now pleads mercy because he is an orphan!

As for semi automatics. Why do you need one? Why do we ban machine guns? The AR15 is designed to kill people. It is designed to do maximum damage to the human body.

If you can't hit someone or some thing with say 8 rounds as the M1 rifle carried per clip, do more range time!

Lastly, think with the head on your shoulders not the one between your legs!
rpavich your argument is specious. what is called... (show quote)

Why wait for the purchase of a gun?
Why not just do a universal background check on everyone yearly.
Then prosecute for any thing that is found " wrong "?

call for background check
call for background check...

Considering that every time anyone is hurt or killed due to the use of a gun...the "solution" is to ban the weapon...then logically, the answer to this is that we now should ban knives.../

Don't forget to add a clause to cover pressure cookers.

Gun control is not the answer, look at Chicago, more crime because only cops and criminals have guns.

Actually, how come NO ONE has called for banning of cars !!
Those are bigger and more powerful than a measily "assault gun and hi-capacity magazines holding more than 10 bullets"

Cars come in all sizes, shapes, and colors and have been responsible for more deaths than all of our wars, crazies, and criminals combined.

Of course not. I don't like it that the existing gun laws aren't enforced and that criminals go free so easily and quickly..

Why would you think that I would approve of that?

PS: There are background checks when you buy a gun...I've done it every time.

If there are always background checks then why did the NRA fight so hard and kill the background check bill in the Senate ?

What I want to know is how long do we have to wait before pressure cookers are registered? Obviously, there are despicable people using them and yet they can be freely purchased over the counter. What is wrong with this country?

AGREED. Firearms DO NOT make us criminals. But try to tell our commander-in-chief and his minions that !!! Why SHOULDN'T we give the crazies and others an advantage of the majority of law-abiding members of the good ole US of A currently with and without firearms . :x

Criminals will always be able to get guns, if we disarm our citizens we allow them more opportunity to harm or kill (look at Chicago). Everyone knows that police response times are slow and an armed citizen or citizens can stop or even prevent an event from escalating. I am a gun owner, I hope I never have to use it, but I feel comfortable knowing I have it if the need arises.
