If you go to Antelope Canyon you need a tour because it is on Indian reservation. There are many tours given but if you want a photographers tour you really need to make reservations well in advance. The upper level from all that we have researched (we are going there on Monday) says that it is really crowded but is the place to get the photos of the light coming through the rocks. The lower canyon is less crowded. The normal tour is one hour but if you bring a tripod (no I'm not kidding) they will consider you a professional photographer and you can spend 2 hours. We are going from Antelope Canyon to Zion and Bryce which from all our research is a photographers dream. Hope that helps.

I believe as stated above you would be very interested in the Antelope Canyons in Arizona. They are located about 2 miles south and east of Page, AZ. They are on Navajo land and you have to pay in cash, about $40 per person if I remember correctly. Noontime is the best so that the sun shines down through the slots. There are 2 slot canyons, one across the road from each other. They are worth the price. Absolutely mandatory is a tripod. The canyon on the south side has you take a truck and guide to it. Make sure the guide shows you the best photo ops.
A lot of people then go on to Bryce northwest of Page in Utah.
The two together are worth the trip!

To everyone who offered valuable information to me about the SLOTS, not caves, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your time and your knowledge. The members here
are so incredable in the knowledge that you so freely offer.

Many, many thanks,
Gordon

I'm not an authority on COPD but I can assure the readers that the elevation at Bryce Canyon overlook is around 8300'. Obviously if you hike into the canyon, the elevation is lower.

Already corrected above.

Both upper and lower antelope canyons have to be guided by the Navajo tribes that own the rights to the land. It can be very crowded and hot inthensummer and if there is any threat of a rainstorm they will close the slot canyons due to threat of flooding. To get to them iit is best to stay in Page Az wher you can organize day trips to the canyons. I find winter to be the best time to visit herenasnthe crowds are low and it does not rain. I live very close to this area and knowmitbquitenwell if,you have any questions I am happy to assist you.

My wife and I are going to be on vacation next week in this area. We plan one day at the Grand Canyon, 2 in Pace and 5 in Cedar City UT so we can explore Zion and Bryce. Any suggestions or must see recommendations.

I have been to Bryce Canyon but didnt know there were caves or cave. It was amazing though and as I didnt have much time there would love to go again. I have also been to the Slot Canyons in Arizona, fabulous for photography but have not heard them referred to as "caves"

I've done a search for some caves that, I think, are in
this park. I have failed to locate the name and location
of these caves that are spectatular when sunlight is
overhead and shining into the caves or cave.
I once read an article regarding doing HDR photography
to capture the magical beauty of this cave(s).

So far I don't think one question asked in this forum has
failed to be answered by the experts here. If anyone
has been in these caves or has read about them, would
you be so kind as to tell me the name of this cave and
if you have to have reservations to gain entrance into
it or them. Obviously, I don't know if there is more than
one cave plus I have no idea how the sun can shine
into the cave(s). Also, if these caves are not in Bryce
Canyon, please inform.

Any helpful info will be greatly appreciated.

What you are looking for is Upper Antelope Canyon, about ten minutes outside of Page, Arizona. Its a couple of hours south of Bryce Canyon. Lower Antelope Canyon is good also but no light shafts. All visits to the canyons must be guided so be sure to get on a Photo Tour or you will spend your time getting hundreds of shots of the back of people's heads. Note the people in the attached shot. Tripod is a necessity.

Haven't heard back from jimni2001 yet so maybe you can help.
Been thinking of taking a trip across country next summer and I am in a wheelchair being paralyzed from an accident. Would you by any chance know first hand if any of the slot canyons are wheelchair accessible? I will be traveling alone.

I should have said this earlier but haven't....so here goes.
I now know that what I was looking for is NOT a cave.
I had never heard of slots before which shows my ignorance, but if this is the worse mistake that I make in my life...so be it.
Again, thanks to those of you who educated me in such a nice way, I REALLY appreciate that and all the other help that was shown to me.
Gordon

The canyon floors are covered with several inches of sand so a wheel chair might be very difficult. I suggest you call one of the Navajo tour companies in the area (there are about half a dozen) and discuss it with them. There are many slot canyons in the area and they may know of some that would work for you. Just google antelope canyon tours, call them and describe your situation. This is a multi-multi million dollar industry and I bet they have something suitable for you. I know they do many specialized tours.

I have a question for you. What is it that you text goes only half way across the screen? I've noticed that with other posters.
