I have a new Nikon D7100. I want to import NEF RAW photos into my iMac desktop to process them with Photoshop CS5.
Has Adobe done anythiing about this? If not any guesses as to when they might do it.

I have downloaded View NX2 as suggested by MT Shooter. I cannot make that work either.

View NX2 (latest version 2.7.4) as well as ACR (version 7.4) are both fully compatible with D7100 .nef files, I use them both regularly with my D7100. I think your issue must be somewhere else.

This release claims support for D7100. Nikon ViewNX 2.7.4, NEF RAW Codec 1.18.0

Nikon D7100 was included in ACR version 7.4
Photoshop CS5 will not accept versions later than version 6.7
Meaning you will have to upgrade PS to use your NEF files in that program.

You don't have to upgrade to PS CS6 if you don't want or can't afford it. You can always use Adobe's DNG Converter. It is a FREE utility. It will convert the D7100's Raw files to the non-proprietary DNG format. After your Raw files have been converted to this format, they will open in the Raw Converter in PS CS5.

And here are two other alternatives which involve less money -- get PSE11 or Lightroom 4 (the Camera Raw 7.4 update is compatible with both).
